Hunters barely escape Lady Tigers

STE. GENEVIEVE - The Ste. Genevieve Hunters nearly lost what looked like a sure thing in their game with the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers. The Hunters led by as much as 20 points, but Arcadia Valley clawed their way back into the game to finally take the lead with a minute left in the game. The Hunters scored last to win a 54-53 game.

“It took all of our energy to get back into it,” said Arcadia Valley coach Andy Sherrill. “We just couldn't hang on.

Both teams were led by their sharpshooters with Lindsey Rhodes scoring 25 for the Hunters and Kassie Walker scoring 31 for the Lady Tigers.

Ste. Genevieve is now 10-1 and will play tonight at Potosi. Arcadia Valley, 9-4, will host conferfence foe Bismarck tonight with both teams tied at 4-0 in conference play.

Ste. Genevieve 21 11 12 10 - 54

Arcadia Valley - Walker 31, G Williams 10, Ky Stocum 5, L Williams 2, Reichert 2, Goggin 2.

Ste. Genevieve - Rhodes 25, Fox 9, Flieg 9, Hutson 5, Rector 4, Armbruster 2.

3-Pointers: Walker 3, G Williams, Flieg.

Valle 58, Kingston 4

CADET - The Valle Lady Warriors had no trouble scoring against the Kingston Lady Cougars Wednesday night. The Lady Cougars are in their first season since not having a team last year.

Katie Jo Bergthodt led the Lady Warriors with 16 points. Katie Shuh scored 14, Danielle Donze had seven, and Jessica Donze scored six. Ciara Kamper and Colleen Politte had two points each for Kingston.

Kingston will host Valley tonight. Valle will travel to West County on Saturday for a 3 p.m. game.
