Upcoming local sports events

Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.

3-on-3 - Feb. 25

The First Baptist Church-Desloge youth group will be holding a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on February 25 at the North County Middle School gym for all ages 7th-grade and up. Teams may be co-ed. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. with an entry fee of $30 per team. The proceeds will go toward a summer mission trip to Chicago. Summer Softball - March 7

Registration for teams wishing to play in the Park Hills summer softball leagues will start at 9 a.m. on March 7 and will end at 5 p.m. on March 31 (or when league is full) at the park Hills City Hall on 9 Bennett St. The leagues offered are: Monday and Wednesday Men's League (12 teams) - $260, and Friday Church League (10 teams) -$190. Teams hit their own softballs, with one dozen provided. Call the Parks Department at 431-0478 for additional information.

Softball Meeting - March 9

The City of Farmington Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual organizational meeting for all adult slow-pitch softball leagues on March 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Memorial Long Hall, located at 110 W. Columbia St. Fees, rules, schedules and regulations will be discussed, and each team wishing to play in one of the leagues this summer should be represented. Registration for the upcoming season will start at the meeting. For more information contact the department at 756-2215 or drop by the office at 12 S. Franklin St.

3-on-3 - April 1

Team MAC will be holding a ‘Hoop for a Cure' 3-on-3 tournament on April 1 at Central's T.J. Foulon Fieldhouse with all proceeds going to Relay for Life. The cost is $60 per team and age brackets will be formed depending on the amount and type of teams entered with a guarantee of at least four games for each team.
