Smith tosses no-hitter for conference win

BISMARCK - Arcadia Valley's Logan Smith threw a no-hitter against the Bismarck Indians during Tuesday's conference contest. The Tigers also collected seven hits in a 10-0 win in six innings.

Smith struck out 15 batters and walked only one. Arcadia Valley took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, added a pair of runs in the second and fourth innings, and came though with one in the third, fifth, and sixth frames.

Jake Yarbrough blasted a triple and later crushed a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Nick Benz contributed a couple of doubles. Luch Laird went 3-4 with a double, and Tyler Laird blasted a triple.

The Tigers (2-1, 2-0 small-school MAAA) will visit West County for another conference game on Thursday. Bismarck (0-2 overall and in conference play) will travel to Valle the same day.

Valle 7, St. Vincent 4

PERRYVILLE - Although Valle's game at Kingston was postponed on Tuesday, the Warriors were able to travel to Perryville to take on the St. Vincent Indians. Valle collected 12 hits and finished with a 7-4 win.

The Warriors took a 2-0 edge at the end of the first inning, but St. Vincent tied the game up on a couple of errors from Valle in the second frame. The Warriors put up a pair of tallies in the third inning and posted three more in the fourth frame. St. Vincent narrowed the deficit in the final inning with a couple of runs, but their comeback attempt came up short.

Valle's Sean Odneal had a flawless 4-4 performance at the place with two doubles. Adam Hermann was 3-4, and Michael Grass contributed a couple of singles. Kellen Basler got the win for the Warriors. Basler pitched for six and two-thirds of an inning, struck out and walked four, and scattered six hits.

Valle (2-0) will host Bismarck on Thursday for a MAAA small-school contest.
