Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.
Volleyball Leagues - Now forming
Persons wishing to sign up a team to play volleyball at Cuzzins in this summer's league may pick up applications at this time.
Sports Trivia - April 22
The North County Senior Babe Ruth program will host a Sports Trivia Night on April 22 at 7 p.m. in the North County Middle School cafeteria in Desloge. All categories will feature sports-related questions. The cost is $50 per team with a limit of five members on a team. Proceeds will benefit the North County Miners and Indians Babe Ruth teams. Bowling Meeting - April 23
The Mineral Area Bowling Association will hold their Spring Meeting at the Bonne Terre Bowling Lanes on April 23 at 4 p.m. for all league bowlers, including women and children.
Football League - April 25
The Mineral Are Football League will have a coaches meeting at 7 p.m. on April 25 at the Knights Pavilion in Farmington's Engler Park. All team coaches or anyone who would like to coach should attend. For more information call William Drye at 760-3202
Golf Tournament - April 29
The Mineral Area Indians, a 16-18 year old Senior Babe Ruth team, will hold a golf fundraising tournament on April 29 at 1 p.m. at the Terre Du Lac Country Club. The format will be a four person scramble with a minimum of three flights. The cost is $240 per team, or $60 per person, which includes golf, cart, tee prizes, dinner and drinks on the course. The proceeds will be used to help the Indians travel to a couple of tournaments this summer. Call Brandon Hubbard at 631-0166 for further information or to register your team.
