CARTERVILLE, IL - The Mineral Area College Lady Cardinals began their inaugural season under head coach Gary Koch on Saturday at the John A. Logan Classic with the host team, the Lady Vols, as their first opponent. Starting out in first gear, the Lady Cardinals soon fell behind and even a shift into overdrive in the second half could not make up the lost mileage as the Lady Vols claimed a 72-64 win.

Both teams were old from the perimeter as only two three-pointers were scored by each team. The Vols however were able to beat out the defensive efforts of the Lady Cardinals to block out on the boards and John A. Logan made seventeen of their points on second chances by pulling down nearly half of the rebounds on their end of the court.

John A. Logan scored 18 points from the charity stripe to the Lady Cardinals' 10, and the Vols also had 28 points off the bench, and again the Cardinals were lacking with only 14.

Sarah Fraser-Jones led the Lady Cradinals in scoring with 16 points, Chanel Jones-Delas had 13, and Karolina Zaloga scored 10. Lesley Adams led in rebounds with 10. Anna Kowalska led John A. Logan with 18 points and 15 rebounds with 10 on the offensive boards.
