STE. GENEVIEVE — The Ste. Genevieve Dragons dropped their second game in a row on Wednesday after starting the season 6-0. After tying the game in the fifth inning, the Dragons could not hold on as the Hillsboro Hawks staked claim to a 5-2 non-conference win.

Ste. Genevieve trailed 2-0 after four-and-a-half innings, but a two-run home run by Wes Hogenmiller (1-4) lifted the Dragons’ spirits. It did not last long as the Hawks scored three times in the sixth inning and also shut down the Dragons’ offense for their next two turns at bat.

Justin Burr pitched the entire game and recorded the loss despite giving up only three earned runs and allowing only six hits. Zach Bauer and Burr both had two hits in the game. Vince Wolk had one hit as did Hogenmiller.

Arcadia Valley 6, Potosi 1

IRONTON
— The Arcadia Valley Trojans swept all three doubles matches and took three of four singles to post a 6-1 win over the Potosi Trojans on Tuesday. Nathan Payne was the Trojans only winner as he downed Thomas Lambert 8-5 in No. 2 singles.

Mickey King won the No. 1 singles  with a score of 8-2 over Wil Norviel. Corey Hodzic edged out Gary Hollinsworth in No. 3 singles by a score of 9-7, and Cameron Crawford outdueled Jordan Politte 8-2.

In doubles it was King and Lambert winning 9-8 by a 7-1 tiebreak over Norviel and Hollinsworth. Hodzic and Crawford defeated Payne and Politte 8-5, and Tanner Stocum and Alex Berry finished off John Evans and Matt Cannon 8-6.

Potosi (3-3) will host Farmington on Monday, and the Tigers (2-1) will travel to North County on Monday.

Cape Central 6, Farmington 3

CAPE GIRARDEAU
— The Farmington Knights for the most part found themselves at the mercy of the Cape Central Tigers, losing to the host team 6-3.

Colton Reynolds and Eric Fuemmeler captured Farmington’s only doubles win by a score of 8-5. Joe Arnold and Andrew Maurer fought hard before succumbing to their opponents 8-6 in No. 2 doubles and Ross Ledbetter and Kyle Jarrett also lost by the same score in No. 3 doubles.

Eight to six seemed to be the Tigers magic score as Reynolds, Fuemmeler and Jarrett all lost to their Cape opponents by that same score in their singles matches. Arnold’s 8-5 loss was the only match the Knights did not lose by the 8-6 score.

Samip Patel won his singles match for Farmington by a score of 9-7, and Maurer triumphed 8-6 in his singles match.

The Knights, now 6-2 in dual meets, will play next on Monday at Potosi.
