The Lady Cats Soccer Team has been very busy, lately. The Cats played at Festus, April 5, and won the game, 6-3.
In the first half, Johnna Tinnin opened with a goal at the 3:32 mark. Courtney Kemp got the assist. Festus knotted the score two minutes later, but Tricia Ward put the Cats back on top. Ward’s goal was unassisted and came at the 8:02 mark.
Festus scored at the 24:54 mark to tie the match. Tinnin scored with a helper by Kemp to give the Cats the lead for good 26 seconds later. Ward scored unaassisted to make it 4-2 at 29:18.
In the second half, Ward scored on a pass from Kemp, at 61:32. Kemp added a goal on the assist by Tinnin at 70:42. Festus scored another late goal.
The Cats won at home, April 9, against Kennett. The final was 9-1. Kemp scored unassisted, eight minutes into the contest. Tinnin scored from Kemp, and Kennet scored its only goal at the 20 minute mark. From their, it was all Fredericktown. Tinnin scored twice more on Kemp assists and Kemp scored unasssited to make it 5-1 at the intermission.
Tinnin from Kemp and Ward, also from Kemp made it 7-1. Kemp and Ward each scored unassisted to round out the scoring.
April 10, the Cats lost in frigid conditions, at Windsor. The final score was 4-1 in favor of the Owls.
Windsor scored the only goal of the first half.
Windsor scored three more in the second half, but Coach Jamie Warden said the Cats did not give. Tinnin scored on an assist by Ward. The Cats still have not been shut out this season.
FHS played April 12, at Farmington. Earlier in the season, Fredericktown topped the Knightettes, 3-0, here. This time it took overtime, but Fredericktown prevailed, 3-2.
Mell of Farmington opened the scoring at the 8:00 mark. Kemp scored, unassisted, to tie the game at 1-1 at the half.
Mell put the Knightettes ahead again at the 54:48 mark. Kemp tied the game with an unassisted goal at 58:17. Regulation ended with match all square at 2-2.
Two minutes into overtime, Ward scored on an assist by Kemp to give the Cats the victory.
The Cats hosted Windsor, April 16. Frederiktown avenged its earlier loss, topping the Owls, 5-0. Ward scored on goal in the first with Kemp getting the assist. Kemp scored twice in the first half. The first one was assisted by Starkey. The second came unassisted.
In the second half, Kemp recorded the hat trick on an assist by Tinnin. The final goal was scored by Starkey and assisted by Kemp.
The Cats improved to 6-4 with another busy week this week. They play in the Perryville Tournament, April 26-28.
