Input Sought On Interest In Madison County Route 72 Public Hearing
SIKESTON -- The Missouri Department of Transportation wants to know if people who live or work near the intersection of Routes 72 and J in Madison County are interested in a public hearing on relocating the intersection and replacing the Saline Creek Bridge.

The hearing would focus on the replacement of the Saline Creek Bridge just east of Route J and relocating the Route 72 and J intersection 200 feet to the west for improved safety.  During construction, traffic would be impacted minimally with brief, temporary lane closures.  Construction is tentatively scheduled for

2009.

“The project is scheduled and will be constructed,” says Project Manager Tim Richmond.  “We want to know if the community is interested in having a public meeting on the projects.”

The department requests that anyone interested in a hearing, send a written request to District Engineer Mark Shelton, MoDOT, 2675 N. Main Street, P.O. Box 160, Sikeston, Mo., 63801, by Thursday, June 21.

Maps, plats, and additional detailed project information are available at MoDOT's District Office in Sikeston for anyone interested in reviewing or copying the material.
