FARMINGTON — The Farmington softball team scored five runs in the fifth inning on Wednesday to pull away for a 10-1 conference win against Ste. Genevieve.

Mikeala Westbrook went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Devin Pope and Tabitha Parrott were each 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI for Farmington (10-4). Chelsea Thomure added two hits and Cynthia Robison scored two runs.

Erin Littrell pitched efficiently for the win, throwing 59 of 80 pitches for strikes while scattering three hits and no walks. The freshman hurler also singled and scored two runs.

Emily Blumenthal, Krisden Raney and Brittany Basler picked up singles for Ste. Genevieve.

North County 10, Festus 5

FESTUS
— Balanced offensive production helped the North County Lady Raiders claim their sixth consecutive win on Wednesday with a 10-5 decision at Festus.

Jamie Bullock finished a perfect 2-for-2 to lead five Lady Raiders who had two hits apiece. Freshman Brittney O’Connell and juniors Ashley Skaggs, Katie Gibson and Jennifer Hackworth were the others.

North County (8-2) quickly assumed the lead with three runs in the opening frame, and Gibson made it hold with four strikeouts on the mound while pitching around 11 Festus hits.

Erica Inman and Angel Hicks added singles for the Lady Raiders, who host Fredericktown today in a key conference showdown.

Fredericktown 3, Potosi 2

FREDERICKTOWN
— The Fredericktown softball team saw its unbeaten conference mark placed in jeopardy against Potosi on Wednesday night, but a key defensive play helped preserve a narrow 3-2 win.

Potosi had two girls in scoring position during a final rally, but pitcher Ashley Mascaro caught the lead runner between third and home on a come-backer, and another alert throw retired the trailing runner for a double play.

Mascaro struck out 10 batters and walked two for the win, and also added a sacrifice fly at the plate. Johnna Tinnin provided the key hit with an early two-run homer, while Tricia Ward and Laura Mooney added the only other hits for Fredericktown (11-3).

Potosi (2-5) slugged out eight hits overall, including two from junior Jessica Cain. Jinnger Rogers singled and took the complete-game loss for the Lady Trojans.

Fredericktown 6, St. Vincent 3

FREDERICKTOWN
— The Lady Cats collected only three hits, but still earned a 6-3 non-conference triumph over St. Vincent in their first of two softball contests played on Wednesday.

Johnna Tinnin, Mariah Korokis and Alyssa Allgier each singles for Fredericktown, and Ashley Mascaro fanned eight batters to claim the win in the circle.

De Soto 10, Central 1

DE SOTO
— The Central softball team was locked in a tight battle with powerful De Soto through four innings, but a series of defensive miscues proved costly in a 10-1 loss.

Kayla Usher went 2-for-3 with a run scored and Amber Kennedy added a single for the Lady Rebels (1-11). Sophomore Melanee Cunningham struck out six and allowed just two earned runs in defeat.
