Upcoming local sports events

Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.

AAU Coaches Meeting -Oct. 10

The Mineral Area Sports Club will hold its second meeting on October 10 at 6 p.m. in the Central Middle School cafeteria. Any team wishing to participate in the 2007 basketball league must attend or have a representative present. For any questions contact Jason Nash at jasonnash@sbcglobal.net.

Softball Tourney - Oct. 20

The Law Enforcement Academy at Mineral Area College is holding their 2nd annual Softball Tournament to benefit the SEMO Family Violence Council. The cost of a team is $100 and all games will be played on Saturday October 20th. Teams must have a minimum of 10 players. All proceeds will be going to help fund the Legal Aid fund for the women who are in the Domestic Violence Shelter.
