Trojans and Warriors have victorious Friday

POTOSI — The Potosi Trojans grabbed the early lead and then paced themselves to a 74-57 win over the Herculaneum Blackcats on Friday. The Trojans had four players in double figures.
Kyle Marler scored 25 points to spearhead the Trojans efforts and Jake Coleman scored 16 with Jordan Politte scoring 12, and Landon Young adding another 11. Thomas Plager scored 17 for the Blackcats.
Potosi will travel to Bismarck on Monday for an inter-conference game.

Valle 64, Kingston 52
CADET — The Kingston Cougars wished to extend their new winning streak to two on Friday as they played their second winless team in a row in the Valle Warriors, but this time it would be the Warriors who would get their first win by a score of 64-52.
The Warriors (1-3) maintained control throughout the game, leading by four at the half and by eight going into the last quarter. Four players registered double figures in the scorebook with Michael Rozier leading the way with 17 points. Nolan Weiler finished with 14, and both Adam Oberle and Ryan Roth scored 10 points.
Kingston’s Nathan Boyer had a monster game against the Warriors with 26 points on the night to be the only Warriors’ player to score in double figures.
It was also Valle’s first conference win and they will play next today in the Perryville Hoopfest at 10:30 a.m.. Kingston (1-6) will host Valley on Tuesday for their second conference game.

De Soto 42, Fredericktown 40
DE SOTO — The Fredericktown Blackcats were the victim of a last-second shot and fell to the De Soto Dragons 42-40 Friday night. In a game that was back and forth as far as momentum was concerned, the chance of either team scoring at the buzzer became magnified, and De Soto’s John Breummer supplied the home-team crowd-pleaser.
Breummer scored 14 points to lead the 4-2 Dragons in scoring along with John Krodinger who also had 14.
Fourteen was the ceiling for individual points as Fredericktown’s Jerod Williams also came up with the same amount of points to be the Blackcats only player in double figures.
Fredericktown (4-2) will be at home on Tuesday to host Cape-Notre Dame.

South Iron 67, Arcadia Valley 27
ARCADIA — The Arcadia Valley Tigers had trouble slowing down the freight train of the South Iron Panthers and they suffered a 67-27 loss to the 7-0 Panthers. South Iron only allowed seven second-half points by the home team with only one point coming in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers had three players in double figures with David Prater scoring 18, Will Sutton with 13, and Levi Middleton with 12.
Derrick Wilson was top man for the Tigers with eight points and Erick Lindsey scored seven.
Arcadia Valley will play next at Bismarck on Tuesday in a conference game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
South Iron 52, West County 33
ANNAPOLIS — The South Iron Lady Panthers played a tight zone defense which stymied the West County Lady Bulldogs game plan and the Lady Panthers pulled off a home win of 52-33.
A strong third quarter put the game out of reach for South Iron as they held the Lady Bulldogs to only four points in the eight minutes. Only Chelsie Kelly could break the double-digit plane of scoring with 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs will play their first conference game on Monday when they travel to Valley.
