CHICAGO — The Mineral Area College Cardinals improved their record to 12-3 on Friday with an 82-75 win over Malcolm X in the first game of the Willie Little Memorial Classic held at Kennedy-King College
Both teams battled for the lead in the first half with the Cardinals pulling out a 42-29 half. Malcolm X kept the Cardinals always wary of a possible comeback as they closed the margin to as little as three in the second half, but MAC never relinquished the lead.
Jerwin Calloway lit up the scoreboard with 21 points to lead the Cardinals with Marcus Scott scoring 14. The Cardinals had 11 players scoring in the game.
