Robinson doesn't plan to resign

Nothing in rules forces automatic resignation for felony charges
Thursday, June 5, 2008 2:48 PM CDT
State Rep Brad Robinson told KFMO on his weekly legislative show that he has no intentions of resigning from the House of Representatives.

Robinson turned himself in Thursday afternoon after being charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident. His wife, Tara, is charged with misdemeanor making a false declaration to police.

The Robinsons and their attorney have not returned the Daily Journal’s repeated phone calls.

According to Chief Clerk of the House Adam Crumbliss, nothing in the rules would force a Representative to resign if he or she is charged with a felony.

Crumbliss said he does not believe any rule compels a Representative who is charged with a crime to step down from a leadership position. However, a leader of a caucus could be forced by that caucus to resign from the leadership role if he or she is charged with a felony.

When the leader is chosen by the entire House — such as the Speaker of the House — the House could vote to have that person step down from the leadership role, he added.

There are steps that could be taken if a legislator is convicted or pleads guilty to a felony, but those steps are up to the respective house.

Article three, section 18 of the Missouri Constitution gives the House and Senate control over qualifications for membership as well as “the power to make rules, punish for contempt and disorderly conduct and expel members.”

The Constitution also states that either house “may punish its members for disorderly conduct; and, with the concurrence of two-thirds of all members elect, may expel a member; but no member shall be expelled a second time for the same cause.”

In cases that involve disease or addiction to drugs or alcohol, the House sometimes is lenient if the person successfully completes treatment, Crumbliss noted.

He added that he is not aware of any member of the House of Representatives who has been expelled from his or her seat. In cases where legislators have been in trouble with the law, the charge was dropped to a misdemeanor through a plea bargain, or the legislator resigned on his or her own.

Lawyers at the Capitol on Friday were researching whether a law that says a convicted felon may not run for office could be interpreted to mean someone already in office no longer could serve if convicted of a felony.

Brad Robinson, a Democrat, has been a state representative for District 107 since 2004. Prior to that he served on the North County School Board, on the Pilot Knob City Council and as an Iron County Commissioner.

GDM, yes you are absolutely right, the Robinson's are such good people, I mean it takes a good person to be able to drive while intoxicated, hit an innocent pedestrian, leave him for dead, switch seats with your good wife so she can take the blame assuming you caught, and then have all of your good friends make false police reports. And never once admit any wrong doing.

Thank god the world doesn't have more "Good" people like the Robinsons.

I should have not said the Democratic Party. That was misguided.
I should have said the people who run the Democratic Party in this county.

Also, I should have not said "yet another political position" in this county.

Because, it's obivious that these powerful people want to keep him at state level. He did in fact file to run again on the Democratic ticket.

I am 99.9% sure he is not doing this without advice/support from someone.

Thanks for blogging to me(I've blogged before and no one has blogged me back) and showing me there are Democrats strongly not in support of him.

I'm so glad to hear not all the Democrats are willing to support Brad Robinson regardless of what he does. I believe Democrats as well as Republicans want a decent human being with integrity and honesty representing them. I'm republican but after Engler came out in the paper supporting Brad, I'll vote for a Democrat rather than him. So this could help the Democrat party if handled properly and they don't support Brad robinson.

How would you get such a misguided opinion that the democrats in this county would welcome Brad Robinson to another political office in the county or not want him to resign because he would be replaced by a republican by virtue of the present republican governor?

Trust me, I'm a strong democrat (and I believe I speak for other democrats in the county) we do want Brad to resign and don't kid yourself into thinking that he would be appointed/voted into another political position--democrat or republican.

The voters/constituents are through with Brad Robinson for his lack of honesty, integrity, upholding the law, and his disregard for human life.

The county as a whole is very informed regarding these issues, and if Brad intends on a political future I trust it will be in another county besides St. Francois, and from what I read it's doubtful in Iron County either.

In closing, even if he resigned before he's possibly (hopefully) convicted, the appointment of a republican would only be for a short period of time before the November elections.

As slow as the justice system proceeds, there will probably be continuances and then November will be here before he is actually convicted.

Food for Thought posted on Monday, February 25th, 2008 at 10:26 am
The Democratic Party does not want him to resign, we have a Republican Governor, which means a Republican would be appointed in his place, and they do not want that to happen. So, with that being said look for Brad Robinson to be backed by our Democratic Party in yet another political position within this COUNTY. Of course, that's without a felony conviction.

Regarding the Robinson's..

Regardless if the guy was president, and etc, it does not give him or anyone the right to be able to get past such mistakes. Infact, how could that of been a mistake? Someone got hurt. *Sigh* It's the area down there ... such and such the higher upper's get the better hand. Regardless, should he give up and resign? I think so if proven guilty. Which if caught on tape, why not?
I'm not agreeing, I'm not on sides. Infact.. I think maybe he was so shocked as to what had happened that denying it would make him feel better.. (maybe not right) but if the same thing happened to one of you.. and you were a important person to the area.. wouldn't you freak? wouldn't you almost not want to lose that?
People will go links for certain mistakes.. to keep themselves in the clear. He shouldn't get let up on though just because of who he is. She on the other hand.. makes him look worse for involving herself.

Does anyone else find it amusing that in this very paper is the story of a mayor who resigned because she improperly kept a neighbors dog and filed a false police report stating the dog was lost after first telling the people the dog had died. Apparently she felt that she had brought shame to the town of Alice Texas by her actions. Doesn't sound like much compared to leaving a man lying in the road, but then again, some people have a higher sense of moral purpose than others. I guess if Donnie Marler had been a Shi Tzu dog we would already have the resignation warranted for such a callous action
What a joke!!! posted on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at 5:42 pm
First, it seems to me that Donnie Marler was the person who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Second, you say they left because they panicked. Why did they panic? I think most of us have that figured out already. DUH!!!
And third, JEALOUS? Are you for real? I wouldn't trade places with Brad right now for all the "stature" in the world. Try another adjective, like ANGRY. Most of us are just plain mad and sickened by the thought that the person we voted in office to represent US has turned into a yellow bellied coward, looking out only for HIMSELF, and putting his wife in harms way to do it. Yeah... that's a lot to be jealous of.
We would have to dig a hole to China to reach the level of "stature" he has put himself in. As the other commentor said, I hope you're not a real judge. It's doubtful. You don't seem to have the mind-set. Heaven help us if you are.
Rod McGee posted on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at 2:32 pm
To the Judge:
Obviously you, like Brad Robinson, do not understand what it means to be a public servant. Being a representative does NOT give you higher stature. On the contrary, it is supposed to put you in a place where you SERVE your constituents. You flawed reasoning is exactly why so many people are fed up with politicians today. If you are actually a Judge in real life then sadly you are also a politician. I could care less what Brad Robinson accompliched as a representative; because, the moment he decided to drive off and leave a man lying in the road all that ceased to matter! Yes one mistake, if big enough, can wipe years of hard work and good intentions. At that instant he ceased to represent the people and began to represent his own selfish, best interest. My ultimate hero is the Chief Petty Officer who, during the Forrestal fire, when planes, began to explode, grabbed a fire extinguisher and ran toward the fire. One of the men he saved that day was John McCain. If Brad was manning that fire extiguisher where would we be?
to "The Judge" posted on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at 11:29 am
Higher stature? Are you kidding me? He is higher than no one...what a horrible choice of words to talk down to everyone. He is someone who was elected to a position, he is no higher than anyone else. His actions show that his moral stature is definitely not higher than anyone. His decision to leave a man for dead definitely lowers his "stature". UNBELIEVABLE! A true jerk...unless of course, you are his friend. Then he is the best guy in the world and you can't understand how people would think bad of him. Give me a break...

disagree with judge posted on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at 3:46 am
I would disagree with the comments of the judge. Brad knows whether he is innocent or guilty of the charges. If he truly believes he is innocent he should not resign and should fight in court to prove he is not guilty. If he is guilty he is doing nothing more than wasting taxpayers money and should quit. If convicted he will be forced from office. The evidence certainly looks like he is guilty. It is much more honorable to resign than to continue to lie and create a fraud on the good people of St. Francois County. I would imagine if he is guilty the judge will not appreciate him wasting the people’s money and time.
To The Judge posted on Friday, February 1st, 2008 at 9:03 pm
I wouldn't call it being at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was negligence. I am sure Michael Devlin now believes he made a mistake, but he will have to pay for his mistakes just as the rest of us do. I also thought pedestrians have the right of way. What has he done for this county? Except give it a black eye. I've known Brad the last five years, I always felt that he was all about himself and this proves my gut feeling to be right! Agian, it is not about the accident, but what happened afterward and the lies that were told, come on doesn't it make you a little sick to think that "Our State Rep." would go to the length that he did to try and cover this up, what does that say to us and our children. His pride will destroy him, if he does not man up to this like he should, instead of trying to hide behind everyone else, he will be nowhere in 5 years and no one will rememer him for anything that he might have done, except this.

No one is saying that Brad and Tara aren't nice people. They made a horrible decision that goes against anyone with proper ethics morality.
Don't be so hasty to think if "I" did the same thing the judgment would not be the same. Brad's stature has been unearned and the only thing I've been aware of him doing is devote his political actions to the development of "The Orchard Development" which is the establishment that saw he would be elected to further their ambitions.
Lastly, I would think that I as upstanding in the community as the next person, and I've got to tell you I don't believe I could commit a crime and then tell lie after lie to cover the truth. Especially when there was an innocent man that was left several minutes unattended. Not acceptable, not any way you slice the pie.

To the Judge-- Are you serious? I believe Brad Robinson ought to resign because he left a man laying in the road. Yes, he panicked! His career flashed before his eyes. I will guarantee you I am not jealous of him in the least. I am perfectly content in my life. I have a wonderful wife, two great kids, and retired from a job I loved after 26 years, the United States Navy! I served my country and not my own selfish interest. Oh, one more thing, Donnie Marler is a great younger brother. I only thing I am jealous of is that I cannot be there to make Brad Robinson wipe that holier than thou, smug look off his face. I promise I will be there when he is convicted, and if the judge lets family members talk I will tell him exactly what I think of his cowardly rear end. Kevin Engler has been the only politician with GUTS enough to call for his resignation. The man is a disgrace. Yes, one act of pure selfishness can make you a disgrace.

It is so easy to pick at somebody with higher stature and we as humans love to do it. I think Brad should not resign for he was successful as a State Rep. and many people still support him. Regardless whether people are voting or not they still realized there have been many crimes committed and there have been many untruths told in reference to the "hit and run".

I bet the registered voters that didn't vote in the last election will be at the polls this time to make sure Brad is not re-elected. What do you think?

I wrote a length comment but decided to delete because the bottom line is that is doesn't matter if you are a "Brad Supporter", SFC Citizen, "Life Long Resident, "Cornflake" etc...

What does matter is that OUR elected state representative has tried to deceive us all...

By his own words..."He said...
"HIS WIFE WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE"

"THEY HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE"
Obviously, a lie...

HE ASKED PEOPLE TO HOLD JUDGEMENT UNTIL THE POLICE'S ACCIDENT REPORT COMES OUT.
Okay, we waited... The truth just ain't that pretty is it Brad???

HE SAID ANYONE WHO THINKS HE OR HIS WIFE WOULD LEAVE THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT DOESN'T KNOW THEIR CHARACTER.
I guess he demonstrated the type of character he has...

HE SAID A PROCEDURE BY POLICE HAS TO BE FOLLOWED AND THE TRUTH WILL PREVAIL.
I am thinking he was positive the good 'ol boy process would take care of him.

Now I ask you... Friend or foe... The guy committed a crime in leaving the scene of an accident -- lied to the police -- but more importantly, left a poor man in the road to die or be hit by another vehicle while he covered his ____!
SFC Citizen posted on Thursday, January 31st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Some of you keep writing in about Mr. Marler and how he has told this story or that story about the night of the accident. I will tell you that it doesn't matter a bit how many stories he tells. The facts are the fact. No one is being charged because of an accident. They are charged for leaving the scene of an accident and makine a false police report. Mr. Marler was walking on or beside the road. It doesn't make a difference which one. The fact is if the Robinson's had stopped immediately and not went on they would not be going through this today. YES I believe it probably was an accident but they made it a crime when they did not stop and then changed their stories. Just remember there were more people in their vehicle with them and evidently they must be spilling their guts. Whatever Mr. Marler was doing makes absolutely no difference. A crime was committed and someone should pay the price.

The attorney talk now is all worthless. They all say the truth will prevail, or we cannot wait to tell our side of the story. I don't think the leaving the scene of an accident statute makes amends for someone who is not at fault. So even if Marler was walking down the middle of the road, where headlights are and side mirrors are not, it would still be leaving the scene, or so it would seem. Finally, all this impeachment talk, he has not been convicted yet, maybe there is moral turpitude, whatever that would mean, but, if he was elected in 2004, and has been reelected once since then, then it would likely be faster to just not vote for him this next time around, than to impeach him. To those who say Brad is great, maybe he is, great people do make mistakes, a mistake can still be a criminal act though, and the guy can still be a good guy. But, to blame the guy who was walking, and got hit with a SIDE MIRROR. He didn't make anyone switch seats or lie!

I guess he has failed to remember that he was elected to uphold the laws of Missouri and the U.S.

I know that he will be tried in a court of law as a citizen, but I firmly believe that elected officials should be held to a higher standard and therefore punishments should be at the maximum allowed by law.

I am in hope that the judicial system will not fail and will file all charges and procecute according (what about filing a false police report???) in addition to the other charges?

I am greatly disheartened at this whole "situation" but most certainly at the attitude of Mr. Robinson that he is above the law and that we, the citizens, are ignorant enough to believe him and his pack of lies...

I have no comments on the Robinson situation but it seems really hypocritical of you to defend this situation as an "error in judgement" and criticize people on here for being "vindictive" "vicious" and "jealous" while making vindictive and vicious statements about the President of the United States.

This blog is about Mr. Robinson, not the President. You probably should take your propaganda elsewhere. Most people here are smart enough to know that what Mr. Robinson did was not an "error in judgement" and in no way is similar to what you are eluding to.

I wrote the Missouri House Ethics Committee abut Rep Robinson's "unfortunate accident" and the following is a direct quote from
Tom Smith, Legislative Director for
Majority Floor Leader, Rep. Steven Tilley

"The House Ethics Committee meets and acts on complaints made about one member from another member of the House. In order for the Ethics Committee to meet, there needs to be a formal complaint filed. A member of the Committee does not traditionally file the complaint.
As you probably know, since you first emailed, felony charges have been filed against him by the County, for leaving the scene of an accident. A surveillance tape has shown that he was the driver at the time of the accident. If the felony charges proceed and he is found guilty, he would no longer be eligible to be a member of the Missouri House of Representatives.

Maybe we should all contact other representatives so "other members" of the House will file complaints against him. This is just in case his hot-shot lawyer, who happens to be from the same city as the special prosecutor, gets him off the felony charges.

Just because you have known Brad for years and like him doesn't make him a good person. There's people I've known all my life and care about, but when they do wrong and hurt someone else, I don't uphold them. If you have respect for Brad and Tara, you may need to recheck your values. A deliberate lie is not a mistake and it's not okay to hurt others with lies and he's hurt many people with his lies. He may have always been nice to you but his ego is bigger than his head. Bottom line, they switched positions, which is a verified fact. Which should tell you if you have any doubt that they knew it was wrong. The absolute hard truth is HE and HIS WIFE and EVERYONE IN THE VEHICLE hindered a police investigation and provided false information to law enforcement. That is criminal, dishonest, disgusting and impeachable !! "my vehicle was involved in an accident, my wife was driving. . ." not once is he man enough to say the truth? Isnt the police report public information now that charges have been filed? WHO are the mystery passengers who also committed criminal acts? THE PUBLIC WANTS TO KNOW !!

I don't understand why people keep saying this was a "mistake" He changed drivers because he knew that something happened he would be in trouble for. An act that has thought is not a mistake. Yes I am positive that they did not hit Mr. Marler on purpose - it was just an accident. What made it more was that he delibertly tried to hide the accident. I think that the people that are trashing Mr. Marler for being on the road at 1 am are just stupid people. If he would have driven home and killed your wife/husband/kid would you have said -'well, at least he didnt try to walk home on a dark road and get hit by a car or something'!!!!! Everyone would have been on here saying 'oh horrible man, drove while he was drunk' at least he didnt put everyone in the road in danger. This would have been a simple accident if Brad and Tara hadnt tried to cover it up.

I would be sick to my stomach as well, if I knew someone that long and thought a lot about them, it's hard to be let down, but he did what he did. Again, we know it was an accident, but what he did afterwards was morally wrong on his part and his wife's. As far as Mr. Marler walking in the road, again let's not blame the innocent person here, you are supposed to have control of your vehicle at all times when driving, that is the law! Put yourself in his shoe's, I have, I would really feel bad and upset, I would step down and try to start my life over, gain back the respect of others, but he is to proud and pride will get the best of him in the end. If he would have called 911 and stayed(if he had nothing to hide)he wouldn't be in this situation. He brought this all upon himself, not the MEDIA, why are we trying to put the blame on everyone else, PLAIN AND SIMPLE it is Brad's fault. If we would start being responsible for our actions, everyone would be better off.

The law is the law, you hit, you stop, you do not go to a parking lot, switch drivers, call a friend, tell everyone what to say, and then go back. That is if you even went back right away, maybe , just maybe you went home and had someone drop you off and then send them back, you know home is not that far from the scene. I cannot believe your even comparing this to a dog, I guarantee if this were you, you would still be in jail.. We know it was an accident, but what followed was not, it was intentional, bordering on premeditation(thinking about what to do to cover it up)this is very serious, If you would do something like this you would be in jail. Just ask his kids where they go to school and of course its Desloge not Bonne Terre. I believe 911 & the US postal system needs to give Desloge rural area as well as other communities (Terre Du Lac, Lake Timberline, Goose Creek, French Village, etc) their own addresses and then you would see some to the bad publicity of Bonne Terre residents go to the residents of all the other areas. When did willfully leaving a man you ran over laying on the road, switching seats with your wife to avoid getting caught, lying to the police and the public at large and to you colleagues in State Congress become just a lapse in judgement? Donnie was left laying in the road like an animal to be hit again so Brad Robinson could attempt to cover his backside like the moral coward he is! Is that inflammatory? You bet it is! If I was in Missouri instead of Tennessee I would love to look that low-down snake in the eye and tell him that to his face. I would love to have him say the things he is saying about Donnie to my face because frankly I don't think he had the intestinal fortitude to do so. You always hear people complain about being tax payers and good citizens blah blah blah and getting a ticket! You got a ticket for breaking the law! At least Tom DeLay (corruption guy from Texas that illegally funnelled canapign contributions from ENRON to state gov't officials) and Tom Foley (Florida Representative that tried to pick up male legislative pages on the internet) resigned. If we don't force Brad to do the same, or at least vote him out of office, then it is our fault that our governmnet is corrupt and we will pay the price when the chickens come home to roost.

I know the 2 people who were with them, and I do not believe they ever had to file any type of report. I'm not sure they were even questioned....I agree, there are many unanswered questions. I wonder if we'll ever get the answers?

First, the only person who really knows whether he's innocent or guilty is Mr. Robinson himself. If you are innocent, by all means hang in there and let's hope a fair trial vindicates you. However, if you are guilty, then step aside, sir, and spare us the spectacle.

Second, I really did not like the handling of this by those involved, particularly and including police. You avoided answering questions that could have been and should have been answered in generic terms at least.

You all are quick to give out speeding tickets to working class folks to make your quotas, but slow as molasses to answer to the public when there's something to answer for. I know you will dislike the opinon, but I'm a tax payer, that's how I feel about it, and that feeling doesn't go away just because you choose once again to ignore such concerns. My 2 cents for what it's worth -- not much these days!

You say the only thing Mr Robinson did wrong was not to use the best judgement in a bad situation, he put himself in that situation. Have you ever wondered WHY he made that dicision? Come on, people know where they were and what they was doing. And. yeah I'm a Democrat too, but he should be in a lot more trouble, maybe someone will investigate furter. He needs to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Too bad people have to be treated so differently in this fine county of ours! I know a man who supposidly hit a street sign in Bonne Terre, told the truth about something he shouldn't have had, and went to prison for 4 months. Same Bonne Terre cop - didn't even give the Robinsons a sobriety test!!!!! What comes around, goes around, and everyone will have their day....
Sobriety test posted on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I have noticed alot of people have asked why there was no sobriety test given at the accident. If you read the story right, no one claimed to have hit Donnie at the scene. Tare claimed to have seen him in a ditch and stopped to help. Not until they went home and called the Sherrif did they say they had hit him. And after 40 minutes you can not give a sobriety test.
Dave posted on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
To all you Republicans that get a posting, I say vote the same way you did last time. Since I'm a democrat you probably won't see this, but I feel better. On the off chance it gets through, the only thing that Rep. Robinson did wrong was not use the best judgement in a bad situation. If he'd he didn't swap places {I say if because I wasn't there}, you all would have been on him as bad or worse. If you say you wouldn't, you'd be lying. Since you obviosly all have law degrees, what happened to Innocent until proved guilty?
To Disappointed posted on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
On the morning of the accident, Mr. Marler told police he left his car parked because he had too much to drink. Jan 24th Mr. Marler stated on Channel 5 News he needed air so he took a walk. Note, he was hit 4 miles from where lives. Jan 25th St. Louis Post stated Mr. Marler started walking because his daughter was late in picking him up. Now according to my math that is 3 different stories. The police have stated more than once that Mr. Robinson's truck DID NOT leave the road. Now you people who are so quick to judge Mr. Robinson DO THE MATH!!!!!!

Here is to you Mr. Robinson:

"Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity."

I don't think there is any surprise here, Robinson is not man enough to step down like he should. To all you voters out there, if your representative will lie about one thing, he will lie about another. Maybe now those who voted him in will learn that you simply can not trust him. It is time we start electing honest people and turn things around, not only in our State but the United States. Thank about it.

This guy is really getting rididulous, showing his true colors. Not resigning is a direct insult to his constituents. It is up to us to make sure he feels unwanted as our State Rep.
No Honor posted on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Why should he resign. He has already brought shame to himself, his family and the people of Missouri. The voters just need to remember all that are involved, even those that think that nothing wrong has happened. Vote them all out.
Right Thing posted on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Of Course he doesn't plan on resigning, he has yet to be a man of good ethics and do the right thing. He appear to only be interested in himself. Just remember him and all the other legislators that support him and his wrong doings at election time.

I thought there was a thing called intent, which plays a part in deciding level of criminal or civil responsibility, are there no true accidents anymore? There was just a young man arrested for doing the same thing in Washington County. If there was no intent in either the Mark Smith or the Brad Robinson situations then why was Mark charged with manslaughter and not just leaving the scene, why was Robinson not charged with vehicular assault.Status in the community should not play a part in how people are arrested and charged. It is also, not right to destroy peoples lives over gut reaction to the most horrible situation they've ever experienced.People lie to protect themselves. There was no intended physical threat to either of the victims. Leaving the scene seems to be most of the problem to me.I am concerend about Robinsons judgement, after the initial "freak out" reaction and the seemingly special treatment our representative is getting. He says he won't resign. How can such a responsible, well liked, public servant, let his wife attempt to take the blame, even if she offered. They both played out the lie. He should step down he has disgraced himself,in the aftermath.

I don't understand why there was no sobriety test given to anyone. I also wonder why the other passengers in the truck who gave false statements weren't charged. Why hasn't the Daily Journal investigated this.

That figures. Resigning would be the honorable thing to do, and he hasn't done anything honorable yet.

Mr. Robinsons term is up soon. Let the voters decide his political career. No one in their right mind would vote for a bold face liar. At least I hope they wouldn't.
unanswered questions posted on Saturday, January 26th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
Mr. Robinson should resign and save what good name and good work he may have done. I don't know anything about his record in the legislature, good or bad. I don't believe he can be effective in voting or submitting laws to be passed or anything he may want to do for the people in his district.
If he would have been honest from the very beginning and stayed at the scene and said he I made a mistake like many other people have made, the you could say he was human like everyone else who makes mistakes. He may have initially panicked and made a bad decision but if he was such good friends with the sheriff, why didn't he tell him the truth and it could have all been handled differently.
I think his wife should also have to have some accountablility because if she wasn't so concerned about THEIR reputation, she would have done the right thing and told the truth. If I was the friends that were with them, I would be questioning my morals and the loyalty of people who ask you to lie knowing it was a crime.

sad thats what i look for in a so call leader, a self serving liar, no reguards for the truth and then try and blame the victim when all else failed. Brad is to self serving to step down. I would be to embarrassed to keep the office after my actions.

I think it is a disgrace that this joke of a rep won't step down. Is he waiting to be convicted? Rest assured that or a plea is inevitable. Brad, do yor district a favor and take your medicine so we can have someone a little more honest represent us.

Do the right thing. Go ABOVE and beyond. Do MORE than what is expected of you. Admit your guilt, resign from the House of Rep. Start to get some dignity back. Start NOW earning people's trust and confidence again. Show remorse. Then, who knows what the future will hold for you. Take the HIGH road. Then in the end maybe something bigger and better will come up that you never even dreamed will happen in your career. Here is your opportunity to set a high standard for your wife, children and people in your community.

I don't understand the negative blogs regarding the so called "mug shot". Actually it was a pretty preppy picture of Brad. Turtleneck, plaid shirt, and spiked hair. Some criminals could be so lucky as to chose their clothes and hair style for a mug shot.....wonder what his appearance would have been on the the scene....oh, I forgot, he wasn't at the scene, he left.

To the perfect citizens of BT and area. I'm glad I now know where all the perfect people in the world live. Right there in your town!!! My Bible says he who is without sin cast the first stone, and there are certainly alot of rocks flying around your area. My Bible also says that All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Did you catch that ALL part in there. You act like you are perfect and you have never made a mistake in a moment of panic, but you are only fooling yourselves. I have a friend who for years has tried to get me to move to that area. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO PEOPLE LIKE YOU? Brad deserves a medal for putting up with all YOUR lies. Take a look back four years ago and see how bad he was treated during the campaign and how he was smeared thru the mud when there was absolutely NO REASON for him to have been treated that way. I would be scared too.You treated him bad for no reason then, so how would he be treated after an accident had occurred?

After reading the article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, it is evident where the next portion of this saga is going. A comment in the article by Mr. Robinson's attorney is that it doesn't matter who was driving the vehicle due to Mr. Marler walking in the roadway and being intoxicated., Looks like this is going to be the defense in both possible criminal proceedings and civil suits. Isn't it time that responsibility is taken.

The way you allow people to drag other people through the mud and hurt their families the way you do by having this COMMENT Section I wouldnt give you a statement either. Matter of fact I along with several other people will not ever give you the time of day again!! I hope you all lose your a**es on this along with respect. I know alot of public figuers and I can tell you that there is alot of respect gone for you as it is! I would like to tell you more, but I will keep it to myself, but trust me you all have been looked down on by MANY people that DO matter unlike each and everyone of your so called reporters that cant write a story that made sense, with the facts and I am not talking about the facts that they sit and come up with in their brainless skulls, I am talking about the truth, not leaving what they want out to make the story sound better!!
