Louie Seiberlich
KREI morning show host, Louie Seiberlich, has announced he plans to run as a Republican candidate for state representative for the 107th District.

“Community service has been in my blood for a long time,” said Seiberlich Friday. “I helped my parents campaign for John Kennedy in Washington County, and I got interested in Republican politics while serving on a youth committee to elect Kit Bond as governor back in 1972.

“It seems we keep it in the family because my sister-in-law, Judy Ellis, is the county auditor.”

The 57-year-old Park Hills man is a morning show host on KREI radio in Farmington. For 30 years, he’s been the announcer for the Mineral Area College Cardinals.

“As a broadcaster for 40 years, I have listened to the concerns of the public on a daily basis,” he said. “I have also listened to the rhetoric of countless politicians. I will put people ahead of politics and rhetoric.”

Seiberlich is a charter member of the Mineral Area Elks and is a past exalted ruler. He is a member of the Methodist church and has worked with public service groups including the Chamber of Commerce, American Red Cross, Mineral Area College, cancer society, heart association and Help the Hungry Bake Sale. He has donated countless hours as a master of ceremonies for a variety of service organizations.

Seiberlich’s wife of 31 years, Debbie, is a special education teacher, and they have three adult children with six grandchildren.

State Sen. Kevin Engler, R-Farmington, encouraged Seiberlich to run. He said Seiberlich would say what he thinks and that would be refreshing. He believes Seiberlich would do a great job for the people of the 107th.

“Louie Seiberlich is a man of honesty, integrity, and energy,” Engler said. “He will be a strong and able advocate in Jefferson City for the people of our area. Through his community involvement, Louie has already proven that he can work effectively with both Republicans and Democrats to get things done.”

The 107th district includes Desloge, Bismarck, Bonne Terre, Park Hills, Leadwood, Iron Mountain Lake and Terre Du Lac.

Archie Camden announced earlier this month that he plans to file as a Democratic candidate.

Brad Robinson, D-Bonne Terre, who is now facing the felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident, holds the current position and has not publicly announced whether he will refile. Robinson was first elected to the House in 2004.

The first day to file is Tuesday.

To the truth.. ok you got me.. after all the last democratic president was such a moral man while in office.. It isnt like he cheated on his wife. We need to judge politicians by their actions not their political party. By the way, I havent called the democrats anything.. so make sure before you judge me, you know me.

"the truth" shows his/her hatred, don't you think? He hates these people! These are our leaders, well I guess they are, it's sad that this person can't even spell the names of presidents and other leaders. Sounds like they don't like Condalezza Rice because she's a black woman. "the truth", everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think a lot of people would agree with me in saying the next time you have a thought......let it go!!!!!! PLEASE!!!! Just stop. No one can take it.

God knows my heart and God watches my every move. I vote according to my beliefs and Democrats continually slap my beliefs in the face. If there were ever a Democrat who has the same moral beliefs that I have, then I would vote for them. It's very simple and I am unapologetic.

How can any one claiming to be religious get on this blog and start slamming someone. I thought chrisitanity was all about helping eachother in love not bashing someone via a blog.

Who is your faith in, God or the republican party. Do you really think he is sayin i'm so proud of the republican party. They don't lie cheat steal. George Bush and dick cheany care so much for babies and they haven't robbed us blind charging 400 dollars for a soldiers meal. They have COMPASSION like Jesus commanded them on the poor and troubled. Oh thats right you call them welfare bums. Yeah you are all so compassinate. You can't possibly believe these people are good hearted leaders. I think the last gun bill was the brady bill passed and led by republicans when reagon and brady got shot. Hey how about that morning after pill they passed and bush didn't veto. oh no he vetoed health care for terminally I'll kids, and you can't fathom -- how pro-life I am. I just realize GW or Dick C or condalisa or Kevin Engler and Kit Bond and Jo-Ann EM don't sit around and try to figure out how to stop abortion. Don't worry not only have I taught my kids abortion is wrong I even tought them sex out of marriage is wrong.Maybe Cheanys lesbian daughter will teach that.

To Pro-Choice:

If you are Pro-Choice, you should continue to support the Democratic Party because it is the Pro-Choice party. The Republican Party is

However, to say that Democratic leaders do not "promote abortion" is just not fair. Numerous Democratic leaders, including the Speaker of the US House, advocate abortion on demand. To me, abortion on demand promotes abortion just like -- to use an analogous circumstances often touted by defendants -- public distribution of condoms (i.e. condoms on demand) promotes safe sex.

Also, a Pro-Life position seems to me to be much more akin to "fresh air" than a Pro-Choice position, which seems to be a rather dark position to me.

But again, if you're Pro-Choice, you should vote with the Democrats. My ultimate point is that folks who have voted Democrat around this area for years should see the parties as they are no aliged, not how the parties were aligned 40 years ago. It is fair to say that the Democratic party of today is the party of gay rights, abortion, racial preference, and gun control. There is nothing unfair about that characterization.
Pro-choice posted on Thursday, February 28th, 2008 at 10:40 am
There is a huge difference between "promoting" abortions, gay marriage, etc. and "allowing choice." I have yet to see any evidence where the democratic party or any of its leaders have "promoted" abortion. I would however, like to "promote" you to open your mind and let in a little fresh air once in a while. What is it you are exactly afraid of? That might lie at the root of your issues with the democratic party.

There are a few conservative Democrats left. But let's be fair. Generally speaking, the Democratic Party of today is the party more likely to promote abortion, promote homosexual marriage, promote racial preferences, and limit the right to have and bear arms. Those are objective facts. If you want those things, continue to vote for Democrats.

But I don't. My parents were Democrats. But I'm not. I did not leave the Democratic Party. It left me by going Left.

Great comments, Not your daddy's dem. Excellent points. To tired of lies...If you are so pro-life, why would you support the party who nominates judges who twist the Constitution to allow mutilation and murder of babies. You make yourself look foolish. You do not know how prolife I am, you could not fathom it. Don't try to justify your support for the party of murder, lies, gay marriage, elimination of right to bear arms, stronger government and higher taxes by making yourself sound like you are prolife.
Tired of lies posted on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Like the Republican party wasn't responsible for passing the morning after pill. Wake up. They don't care about babies. Lies Lies Lies If they did They would talk about it between elections. And for the record this dem is more pro-life than you will ever be.
Not your Daddy's Dem posted on Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
You are so right...the current day Dem party is not the Dem party of Harry Truman. They pander to big business, they have moved so far to the left on social issues that no way Harry Truman could have been a Democrat....or FDR...or JFK for that matter.

Democrats tend to be Democrats because it is a family tradition and they are still believing it is the party for the "average" American. No...that would be wrong.

There is no party for the average American.

Higher taxes, socialized medicine, weak national defense, more gun laws, fewer drug laws, legalized abortion and fewer parent rights, legal gay marriages......that is the Democratic party today. If you support those things...fine. Many Dems do not support what the Dems stand for today but have not figured it out.

The Dem candidates are supported with the same Big Business money that Republicans are funded by. They are not going to help and support labor unions any more than Repubs...they will take your money and pay for the socialized medical care, corporate welfare, and social welfare programs.

Our defense will be cut and we will be at risk.

It is not your Daddy's Dem Party.

I just don't see how Mr. Mund can say GOP candidates sell out to the dollar, when the democrat candidates are just as rich, and tax you more and spend it the way they want. At least Republicans don't sell out to abortion clinics and cloners. And on the other topic, why is it bad to be a strong conservative, but to be a strong liberal highly involved in liberal labor unions is not? So many misguided people around here that think that the democratic party is the same as 30-40 years ago and it is not. The current democratic party panders to the far left like all those weird Hollywood actors. Vote Republican.

When are we going to start voting for the man and not the party? That is one of the biggest problems in our political system today.

Do you Democrats not think the Democrats at the state and federal level are sleeping with the big money? It goes across party lines.

I support everyone voting for who they wish to vote for. That is what the process is all about...but discounting someone because of their Political Party makes the process ineffective.

I have spent time with leaders in JC from both parties. They all have to play the game...unfortunately.

Vote for who you think will do the best job regardless of his party affiliation.

Louis, unfortunately, have been listening to Rush Limbaugh for 3 hours a day, everyday for years. Maybe he should de-program for an equal number of years before running for office.
Archie Camden was my Chief Union Steward at Chrysler for several years. He ALWAYS went beyong the call of duty(and job discription) for his people. Archie is a Great Guy and a class act!! He definitely has my vote!!

Please don't knock Engler for being Pro-big business. "Big Business" employs people. "Big Business" also answers to it's shareholders, which are most of us! Pick on Engler for alot of things, but not because he would like to see more "big business" locate to the area!
Mike Mund posted on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
Sorry Louie, you may be a decent guy but I've seen a lot of nice guys win on the republican side only to see them sell out to the dollar. It just seems to be the GOP way. I'll be voting for Archie but if by some strange chance Robinson should win on the dem side, I'll cast my first ever vote for a republican. God Bless

Every derogatory Democrat statement I make is never posted, so I merely say this. Louie, you have my vote. You are what the Republican party needs for this office.

Since I now live in Florida, I do not have a dog in this fight, but would like to make a few comments regarding Mr Seiberlich. I have known Louie for probably close to 40 years, and I have always found him to be an honest, caring, friendly Gentleman. Politics are so often clouded by Party issues, that we tend to lose focus of who is truly the best person for the job...
and in this case, I truly believe the best person for the job is Louie Seiberlich. I honestly belive Louie would truly represent the people of the 107th District to the best of his abilities. Good on you Louie!
ConcernedToo posted on Monday, February 25th, 2008 at 9:29 am
I am also concerned about the endorsement of senator Engler. I wrote to him to express my concern about his support of Brad Robinson and his response was "even Jesus dined with sinners, do you question his ethics also." Well, I can certainly see why Engler supported Robinson. The Jesus complex must be contagious. Louie would be better off separating himself from Engler. Engler is all about Engler!
Thrilled posted on Monday, February 25th, 2008 at 8:41 am
The fact that Sen. Engler is the first one endorsing Louie is a perfect example of why he is the best candidate. Engler has made it a habit to put his district first. Just like Engler and Jo Ann emerson, Louie will work across party lines to stand up for the people of his district.
One For All posted on Sunday, February 24th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
I agree with Concerned about an endorsement from Sen. Engler. All Engler cares about is big business. The Senate gave him a nod to vote against the bill on social services to make it look like he did'nt like Medicade cuts.I know what he's really all about.A vote for Louie is a vote for Engler.Archie you got my vote.

I've never known Louie to turn down a request for help from a civic group or church. That will be a good change from the current rep (or the one before him, for that matter) who always puts no. 1 first. You have our vote Louie.
BT Interview queen posted on Sunday, February 24th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
Go for it Louie, it does not matter to me if a person is Rep. Dem. except for communist, as long as the interests of the people for the people are kept at the forefront and you do not participate in the "good ole boy" network. This county needs a solid person whoose morals are upstanding. And just because Sen. Engler endorses a person, does not mean you are bad..it means you have friends and does not mean you participate in " alterier motives" You have my vote.

This is wonderful news for the people of the 107th. Louie is an honest hard working man who if elected will serve the district with honor and integrity.

To: Louie posted on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I wish you all the luck in the world, but you should have stayed on the Democrat side with your parents. Having Kevin Engler praise you is not an endorsement for me.
Concerned posted on Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 at 12:01 pm
Mr.Seiberlich says he wants to put people ahead of political rhetoric why is filing with Sen. Engler endorsement. He is clearly a politician who plays the majority card all the time and pretends to care about his constiuents while working for "Big Buisness." I feel Sen Engler is anti middle class and anti union. Mr Seiberlich becareful who you call your friends if you don't like political rhetoric. We need someone to run against Sen Engler as well, no matter what party he has only helped big interest...what good paying jobs has he brought? I like what I heard about Camden , atleast he is from the working class and represents most of us in the district.
