Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.
Raiders Tryouts — March 17
The Bonne Terre Raiders will be holding tryouts today at 6 p.m. for this upcoming season for players ages 10-12. Players should come to the Bonne Terre Field behind the old Bonne Terre School rain or shine. For more information contact David Spray at 358-3031.
Rattlers Try-outs — Mar. 17
The Farmington Rattlers will hold try-outs for interested players, ages 7-9, on March 17 at 5 p.m. at Washington Franklin School. Anyone interested can call 315-8519.
Mustangs Tryouts — Mar. 17-18
Tryouts for the Farmington Mustangs baseball team of the MABA Bantam League will be held on March 17-18 in Farmington for athletes of ages 7-9. For more information call John England at 760-0473.
Outlaws Try-outs — Mar. 18
The Farmington Outlaw (7-9 yr. olds) will be holding try-outs on March 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Farmington Sports Complex. For more information call Keith at 631-6280 or Larry at 535-9267.
Angels Try-outs — Mar. 19
The Farmington Angels will be holding try-outs on March 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the Doe Run ballfield for baseball players ages 10-12, For more information contact Mike Hartupee at 701-4320.
Baseball Sign-ups — Mar. 20
The Bonne Terre Baseball Association is currently registering players between the ages of 4 and 16 for summer baseball and softball leagues. Registration forms are available at the Bonne Terre City Hall and must be completed by March 20. Anyone with questions may call Shawn Kay at 358-8895.
Girls Softball — Mar. 30
The Mineral Area Girls Fast-Pitch Softball leagues will hold a meeting on March 30 at 3 p.m. at the Central High School Cellar to discuss the upcoming season for the 12, 10, and 8 and under leagues. For further information contact Ed Hart at 431-1159 or Bryan Wallen at 431-9581.
Girls Softball — Apr. 7
The Park Hills Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a meeting for managers of girls fast-pitch softball teams for this summer’s upcoming leagues on April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Horseshoe Building at the Park Hills Sports Complex. The leagues are age 15 and under which will play on Tuesdays and 18 and under which will play on Thursdays. The entry fee is $150 per team and softballs are not provided. Teams may register at the meeting or until May 9 at Park Hills City Hall. Games begin on May 19th. For further information contact the Parks and Recreation Dept. at 431-0478.
