Ambulance service in Madison County will not be interrupted.
By a 1,653-467 margin, county voters approved a measure to establish an ambulance district in Madison County. Madison Medical Center will maintain the ambulance service until the ambulance district is “up and running.”
In other measures on the Tuesday, April 8 ballot, voters defeated a measure asking to make the Madison County Prosecutor a full-time position. The vote was 1,161 No and 883 Yes.
Incumbent Kent Marler defeated challenger Sie L. Merriman Sr., 1,465-393 for a five-year term on the Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees.
In the City of Fredericktown, the voter for mayor went as follows: Former Mayor Danny E. Kemp won with 309 votes. Ward III Alderman Mark Tripp was second with 289, Adiba Chowdhury was third with 99, and Bonnie Rackley received 28. In the only other contested vote, Sie L. Merriman Sr. was elected Ward II alderman, 113-53 over Bill Killian. In Ward I Paul Fritch received 259 votes running unopposed. Karen Wright received 187 votes running unopposed in Ward III. Also running unopposed City Collector Erica Settle was re-elected with 623 votes; and John Wright was elected City Marshall with 533 votes.
The City had two ballot questions, proposing making the Collector and Marshall positions appointed positions. Both of these failed.
In Marquand, Dennis E. Ward was re-elected mayor, receiving 33 votes, running unopposed. Wilma Dees received 44 votes running unopposed for collector. Gary Hovis defeated Alice Kay Mouser, 18-6, running for Ward I Alderman. Robert E. Homan received 20 votes, running unopposed in Ward II.
In Junction City, Vincent O’Brien (16 votes) and Charles Heady (12 votes) were both elected to the Board of Trustees. There were also two people running unopposed for Cobalt Village Board positions. Larry Dale Graham received 13 votes and Jennifer E. Graham received eight votes.
The Mineral Area College Bond issue to construct a Vocational Technical School failed by a 1,140-703 margin in Madison County. However, the entire college district voted on the measure. Results on how it faired overall were not available at press time.

For all thoughs that had excuses not to vote. Shame on you. You are allowing others to make decisions for you.
