Knights place second at districts, Arnold claims first in singles

SIKESTON — The Class 3 District 1 tennis tournament was held on Friday, and the Farmington Knights finished in second place behind the host team, with the Potosi Trojans taking third and Crystal City fourth.

Only the four top teams advance on to Regional play with Farmington hosting Potosi on Tuesday and Sikeston hosting Crystal City tat the same time.

The top two doubles teams and top two singles players advance on to the state finals to be held on May 22 at Springfield.

Justin Arnold swept through the singles matches winning 6-2, 6-4 over Daniel Agung of Sikeston to claim first-place honors. Colton Reynolds and Eric Fuemmeler took second in doubles with a 3-6, 4-6 loss in the finals to Sikeston’s duo of Jones and Matthews.

Frederick Beckmann placed third in singles for North County.
