Upcoming local sports events

Local sports events will be announced in the Daily Journal on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday for two weeks preceding the event. Please send an announcement of your upcoming event to the sports department no sooner than three weeks before the event or its registration deadline by either phone 431-2010, FAX 431-7640, or drop it off in person at the Daily Journal office in Park Hills.

Fishing Tourney - May 16-18

Field & Stream Magazine will be holding its fifth annual Total Outdoorsman Challenge with a free qualifying event on May 16-18 in Columbia. Interested persons may call the Bass Pro Shop at (573) 886-7100 for more information or go to http://www.fieldandstream.com/totaloutdoorsman where official rules, event times and phone numbers can be found.

MAFL Sign-ups — May 17

The Mineral Area Football League will be holding registration for at Potosi High School on May 17 from 9 a.m.-noon for players interested in playng in the Fall League. The League will also hold registration on the 24th at Frederickown with the same times. For more information contct Chris Moss at 366-1057.

MAC Volleyball Camps & Leagues — June & July

The Mineral Area College volleyball program will be holding a series of camps and leagues this summer with the respective dates, times and cost listed below. 1. JV & Varsity league - June 2-July 7

Six weeks of 50 minute games

Tuesday nights

3. Team Camp - July 18

JV & Varsity teams - 9 a.m.

Cost $100 per team

4. Individual camp - June 2-5

5th-6th grades - 9-11 a.m.

7th-8th grades - 1-3 p.m.

9th-12th grades - 3-5 p.m.

Cost $60 per player

5. Setters Camp - June 9-10

1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

7th-12th grades

Cost $50 per person

6. Hitters Camp - June 9-10

9 a.m. - noon

7th-12th grades

Cost $50 per player
