Green pleads to sexual crimes against minors
Judge will sentence Madison County man in July
A Madison County man pleaded guilty last week to four felony charges related to sexual crimes against minors.
Clifford Green, 48, of Fredericktown pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree statutory rape, one count of first-degree statutory sodomy, one count of second-degree statutory rape and one count of second-degree statutory sodomy.
He will be sentenced on July 17 before Circuit Court Judge Kenneth W. Pratte.
Green took his plea in St. Genevieve County Circuit Court for the convenience of the court. His trial was scheduled June 13. The charges were originally filed in Madison County, alleging that Green committed the crimes in July 2006 against two girls, ages 13 and 15. The victims were runaways from a Division of Youth Services facility. The office of Attorney General Jay Nixon prosecuted the case after being appointed by the Madison County Prosecutor due to a conflict of interest.
At sentencing, Green faces between five years and life in prison on the first-degree statutory rape and sodomy charges, and up to 15 years on the second-degree statutory rape and sodomy charges because he pleaded guilty as a prior and persistent offender.
