Park Hills to discuss zoning for newly annexed areas

Properties would be zoned commercial, industrial

Park Hills City Council will hold a public hearing tonight to discuss a permanent zoning classification for some newly annexed properties.

The city recently completed the process of involuntary annexation of land along U.S. 67. According to city code, the property is automatically listed as R-1 (residential development), but must be classified within 90 days of annexation.

The planning and zoning has already held its public hearing and recommends that the Council approve Bill 810. That bill would zone as M-2 (heavy industrial) one lot owned by Gary and Clara Jean Busenbark and one owned by Busenbark Carpet, Inc.

Seven properties would be zoned C-1 (general commercial). Those properties are owned by Laurel T. and Cleda Moore; Goggins Drilling, Inc.; Ronald A. Schroeder; Gary W. and Clara Jean Busenbark; James Mothershead; Lillian B. Oberle; and Genevieve Farms, Inc.

The Council will vote on the proposed bill following the public hearing.

In other business, the Council will discuss revisions to a sign ordinance, appoint library board members, decide whether to issue a request for proposals for health insurance and address possible revisions to the city’s drug testing policy.
