DESLOGE — Since Wednesday the Desloge Police Department has made three unrelated drug arrests. The first came shortly after noon Wednesday. Desloge Police Chief James Bullock said Officer Lucas Kozloski was dispatched to Rhodes 101 in reference to forgeries on stolen checks.
“Upon arrival he (Kozloski) met with two people involved in the incident,” Bullock said. “During the investigation he discovered a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.”
A 28-year-old Farmington man was arrested and is facing possible charges of forgery, receiving stolen property, tampering with physical evidence and possession of marijuana. A 28-year-old Farmington woman was arrested and could face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia — felony, forgery and possession of stolen property.
Later that night, Corporal Dustin Cash pulled a vehicle over for swerving near the intersection of Wilson and Walnut Street.
Bullock said when Cash approached the vehicle he could smell marijuana.
“He (Cash) asked the driver for consent to search and he located a plastic bag with a substance that appeared to be marijuana,” Bullock said.
The chief said the plastic bag was concealed on the suspect at the time.
“Corporal Cash then called for Officer Cord Blumenstock and his K-9 partner Wyatt,” Bullock said. “Wyatt performed a vehicle search and found additional marijuana.”
A 17-year-old Desloge man was arrested for possession of marijuana.
The find would be Wyatt’s first as a Desloge police officer. The board of aldermen just adopted a K-9 policy for the city during its meeting on Monday. Blumenstock has volunteered the services of Wyatt to the city under the lease agreement.
The third arrest came in the early morning hours Thursday. Officer Brad Judge pulled a vehicle over for failing to use a turn signal on N. Desloge Drive. Bullock said Judge determined that the driver operating the vehicle was intoxicated. He also detected an odor which he believed to be marijuana.
“The odor was coming from the driver’s clothing,” Bullock said. “Officer Judge asked the driver if he had smoked any marijuana. The driver said yes. During a search, Judge recovered a hand rolled cigarette which is believed to be marijuana.”
The driver, a 41-year-old rural Bonne Terre man was arrested. Bullock said he is facing possible charges of failing to maintain a single lane, driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana.
