Brian and Terri Kinder will return to the Parkland Tuesday to perform in Farmington and Bonne Terre.
The couple will perform at 1 p.m. at Long Hall in Farmington and at 4 p.m. in the Bonne Terre Library. The shows, which are free, are part of the summer reading program for youth.
Kinder, a Fredericktown native who lives in Arkansas, writes songs and performs professionally with his wife, Terri. This will be the third year the two have performed in local library reading programs.
The shows will include music from children’s CDs “Brian Kinder: A Kid Like You,” “Special Days,” “Brian Kinder Again,” “Brian Kinder One More Time,” and his latest release, “Joy to the World, It’s Christmas.”
In their performances, the Kinders play music and interact with children. Brian Kinder plays guitar and banjo. The songs are whimsical and appealing to young children.
This year’s state theme for the summer reading program is “Catch the Reading Bug.” The annual summer program is designed to foster a love of reading among children. Each of the four public libraries in the Parkland plans a variety of activities for children during the month of July based on the state theme. Activities are tied to insects and other creatures people sometimes refer to as “bugs.”
