All-star teams begin state, regional action with wins

AURORA, Mo. — The MABA All-Stars continued to advance through the winner’s bracket of the 14-year-old state tournament in Aurora on Friday with a 14-8 victory over host SW Ozarks.

Ollie Siebert had a big 4-for-5 performance at the plate with a double, while Nick Daugherty and Joey Hagan each added two singles for MABA. Garrett Manion allowed three runs and struck out six over five innings for the win.

Brian Koppeis and Tyler Eaves added doubles, and Zach Manford, Collin Manion and Aristotle Butler chipped in singles for a team total of 13 hits. MABA will face Boonville at 4 p.m. today.

MABA 12, Lebanon 8

AURORA —
The MABA 14-year-olds began state tournament play by outlasting Lebanon, 12-8 in the opening round on Thursday, as pitcher Tanner Ward gave just two runs over four innings.

Ollie Siebert paced MABA by going 3-for-4 with a double, while Collin Manion, Nick Daugherty and Brian Koppeis collected two each apiece. The All-stars finished with 15 hits overall.

13-YEAR-OLD STATE

MABA 16, SEMO South 2

CHAFFEE, Mo. — The MABA 13-year-old All-stars erupted for 16 hits on Friday afternoon, and cruised to a 16-2 triumph over host SEMO South in their state tournament opener.

Eric Thompson and Zach Greif each finished 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI, while Derek Mitchell also had a perfect day at the plate with a double, single and sacrifice fly for MABA.

Jimmy Moore and Klayton Loughary each chipped a RBI double among two hits, and Jace Burt added a RBI single in the victory.

Dante Castro allowed one run in three innings for the win, and Jared Dunlap recorded three strikeouts over two frames of relief. Dunlap also aided the offense with two singles.

10-YEAR-OLD REGIONAL

MABA 8, Yankton (SD) 2

BURLINGTON, Colo. —
Jake Bridges struck out eight batters and scattered five hits over six strong innings, as the MACRBA 10-year-old squad opened Midwest Plains Regional play with an 8-2 victory over the South Dakota state champions.

Brayden Krause ripped a solo home run into the left-field corner during the fifth inning, and Keenan Johnson singled twice to lead the MACRBA All-stars. Drew Harlow and Logan Winder each connected for a triple.

MACRBA received singles from Conner Proffer, Brandt Busenbark and Brennan White, and will face Grand Island, Neb. today at 2 p.m.
