Two men being held, additional charges pending
Sunday, August 17, 2008
Canines from the Missouri Department of Corrections helped law enforcement officers track two jail escapees to a house in Ironton Friday night, according to Iron County Sheriff’s and Prosecuting Attorney’s offices.

Steven Jay Taylor, 23, and Jason Richard Dudley, 21, are accused of escaping from Iron County Jail Friday afternoon, where they were being held on probation-related warrants. Taylor also faces charges of receiving stolen property filed earlier in the week.

Area law enforcement agencies and the canine unit searched the area during the afternoon and evening. The two men were found and taken into custody about 10:30 p.m., Prosecutor Scott Killen said.

Taylor was charged with escape from confinement. Additional charges are pending, Killen said. The two men are innocent until found guilty in a court of law, he stated.

The two men remained in Iron County jail at press time Saturday night.
