Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees Meeting
August 13, 2008
The Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees met at 9:00a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, for their regular monthly meeting. The following board members were present: Melba Fadler, Arthur Myers, Mike Baker, Bob Schwent and Kent Marler. MMC staff present: Rodney Gross, Administrator; Lisa Twidwell, CFO; Jennifer Penuel, COO/Human Resources Director; Cindy Dulaney, Acute Care DON; Kristen Starkey, Long Term Care DON; Carol Hyatt, Physician Office Manager; Marty Lynch, Home Health Director; Joe Barnhouse, Purchasing Director; Maureen Medley, Administrative Assistant.

There were 572 patients seen in the E.R. during July. There were 40 surgery cases, 129 EMS runs, 10 air transports from the hospital and 1 from the scene.

During the month of July, there were 7 admissions to the nursing home, 9 discharges and 5 deaths. In addition to their regular activities during August, the nursing home residents will enjoy a snow ball fight (marshmellows) on August 18 and a watermelon feast on August 19.

There were 378 Home Health visits and 2,843 in-home service units provided during July 2008.

There were 1,289 Rural Health Clinic visits and 172 Outpatient Clinic visits during July 2008.

A bid of $135,000 from Huffman Roofing for roof repairs was approved. The Board agreed to borrow the money for this project from First State Community Bank.

The Board approved an increase in nursing home room rates. Private room rates will increase by $6.00 and semi-private rates will be $5.00 higher.

A proposal from Siemens for a new chemistry and coagulation analyzer was also approved by the Board. The cost will be approximately $16,000 per month.

There will be a retirement dinner for Dr. George on Friday, September 5, 2008.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. in the Dr. Slaughter Memorial Building.
