Monday
Tax sale
The county’s annual delinquent tax land sale will be held Monday. The sale will begin at 10 a.m. at the St. Francois County Courthouse Annex in the back parking lot. The annex is located at 1 West Liberty.
Blood drive
The Red Cross will host a blood drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at The Cornerstone at Centenary United Methodist Church, 20 Park Street in Bonne Terre. Walk-ins welcome.
Tax Hearing
The Desloge Board of Aldermen will hold a real estate tax hearing at 7 p.m. on Monday at the City Hall. After the hearing the board is expected to adopt the tax rate for the 2008 fiscal year.
Work session
The Bonne Terre City Council will have a work session Monday night to discuss several issues including the soccer league.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Tuesday
United Way Kickoff
St. Francois County United Way Kickoff, 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday at Special Memories/ Elizabeth Hall, 210 Woodlawn Drive, Leadington.
In February, Jackie Berry, president of the United Way of St. Francois County, opened the annual ceremony to distribute grant check by saying, “Thank you so much for all you do for your community.”
The 2008 total was a record $143,000 which was distributed to service agencies in the area.
Tax hearing
The Park Hills Council will hold a real estate tax rate hearing 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The current tax rate is .684 per $100 of assessed valuation. The proposed tax rate is .682 per $100 of assessed valuation.
Wednesday
Groundbreaking ceremony
There will be a ground breaking ceremony for the Farmington Regional Airport Terminal Building at 11 a.m. Aug. 27 at the building site at 1436 Perrine Road.
Poverty seminar
East Missouri Action Agency will host a Poverty Seminar from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Harvest Christian Centre, 1925 Hwy. 32, Park Hills.
Blood drive
The Red Cross will host a blood drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Farmington Church of the Nazarene. Walk-ins welcome.
Emerson tour
U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson will tour the Trimfoot Company in St. Francois County at 2:45 p.m. and will talk with employees. Following that tour, she will attend the Parkland Emergency Center at 4 p.m . in Farmington.
ER Opens
Workers pave the way for Parkland Health Center in Farmington to host an open house from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and cut the ribbon at 4:15 p.m. on its new Emergency Department.
Thursday
Residents of the Parkland are invited to an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmington Press , 218 N. Washington, Farmington. Light refreshments will be served and the many friends and co-workers of Ron Briese, Press Manager, are invited to wish him well in his retirement.
Friday
Desloge Labor Day Picnic
The Desloge Chamber of Commerce’s Labor Day Picnic will kickoff Friday evening at the Desloge Park. Wrist bands will be available for unlimited carnival rides from 6-10 p.m.
Saturday
Desloge Labor Day Picnic
The Labor Day Picnic will continue at the Desloge Park. On Saturday horseshoe tournament registration will take place at 9 a.m. with tournament starting at 10 a.m. The registration for the washer tournament will be held at 10 a.m. with play starting at 11 a.m. Whiskey Creek will perform from 1-5 p.m. Less Than Serious will follow from 6-10 p.m.
End of summer party
Bonne Terre Swimming Pool will have a free swim with music from 5 to 10 p.m.
Sunday
Desloge Labor Day Picnic
Sunday’s activities will kickoff with the First Free Will Baptist Church children’s ministry at 10:30 a.m. Live music will get under way at 11 a.m. God’s Word will take place at 11:30 a.m. and the Boy Scout Pinewood Derby will be held from noon to 2 p.m.
The Memphis Boys will perform from 2-7 p.m. and a street dance will be held from 7-10 p.m.
