Fredericktown Garden Club
Aug 20, 2008 - 15:09:11 CDT
The Fredericktown Garden Club held it’s monthly meeting. The Program was presented by Mary Reed, Parkland Beekeepers Association. Mary gave a very interesting and informative talk on the changes (colony collapse disorder, etc.) in the bee population, many facts on bees and how their colony works and the use of bees in healthcare. Honey from your area helps with allergies, bee stings help arthritus and many other uses. There were several young visitors - one seven and one ten. After the program I asked a number of questions regarding the program and they got all the answers right. Whether young or older bees are so important to us all.
One fact that surprised many was that bee’s are not native to America. President Elaine Merica conducted the meeting and passed along several comments - the District Directors which held their annual meeting here were very pleased with the decorations and hospitality we provided and our Club Book got honorable mention at State.
