FARMINGTON — A former pharmacy technician is accused of fraudulently filling her own prescriptions after she became addicted to pain medication
This week, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Jeremy Brauer charged Dawn D. Nash, 33, of Bonne Terre, with 11 felony counts of fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $55,000.
If convicted, she could be sentenced up to four years on each of the charges.
According to court records, Farmington Police were called July 1 after the head pharmacist discovered “bogus prescriptions” Nash had been filling under her family members’ names.
The head pharmacist called the family members’ doctors and confirmed 41 prescriptions for Hydrocodone that weren’t authorized between September of 2007 and July 1. Nash’s employer interviewed her about the incidents and learned that another prescription had been filled that day.
When interviewed by police that day, Nash said she did not sell any of the pills and that no one else knew what she had been doing. She said she became hooked on the medicine after a doctor gave them to her for a neck injury.
“I am so sorry ...” she said in a written statement. “I didn’t realize how much I was taking until it was in front of me in black and white.”

I to am a veryyy good friend to Dawn. I just want to know why her employer did not get help for her. I understand what she did was wrong, but if this employer cared about their employees( which they dont as they have shown in the past) then they would of at least told her that the knew and they wanted to help her. She only had what she would say as a very select few that she would call friends, all were fellow techs, the rest could not be trusted as friends. She was in terrible pain and this was the only way, she thought, to help her pain. As she said she did not sell any of these drugs, she felt she needed them to relieve terrible pain. If anyone out there is in terrible pain for years then they would understand her dilema. Dawn is a WOUNDERFUL MOM, WIFE AND FRIEND, she knows what she did was not right but I just hope people will not judge her on this alone. She is a wounderful person. Stay strong Dawn we will get through this together!!!!

I am a very good friend of Dawn's and it is horrible that someone didn't help her before it got this far!!!! And I am guilty!!! And I am very sorry for that!!! I know her coworers and employers knew about her problem, because I was a coworker!!!! I didn't know she was doing this, but it doesn't matter! I feel like I failed you, Dawn, because I wasn't a good enough friend to come to you about this!!! I love you and if you need anything, I am here for you!!!!
