Four Bonne Terre residents hurt in accident Monday
Four Bonne Terre residents received minor injuries in an accident at 9:20 p.m. Monday. According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, Tina M. Schicke, 43, was eastbound on Carzon Road about .6 miles north of Route K when her 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix ran off the right side of the road, hit a tree and overturned. Schicke and passengers Chad A. Schicke, 19, Jared F. Schicke, 10, and John H. Schicke, 12 all received minor injuries and were taken by ambulance o Mineral Area Health Center.
None of the four was wearing a seatbelt, according to the reports. Damage to the vehicle was listed as moderate and it was towed from the scene.
According to the Highway Patrol, the next accident occurred at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 221, 200 feet south of Hildebrecht Road. April M. Penberthy, 40, of Farmington was northbound on Highway 221 when she lost control of her 2005 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle skidded across the road and struck a 2005 Jeep Wrangler head on. Penberthy suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Parkland Health Center. Sherry J. Harr, 43, of Bismarck, driver of the Jeep, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to the same hospital. Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to reports. Damage to both vehicles was listed as total, and both were towed from the scene.
According to the Highway Patrol, the third accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at 1240 Olive Road. William L. Walker, 53, of Park Hills was northbound when his 1999 Chrysler Town and Country ran off the left side of the road to avoid a deer. Walker overcorrected, causing the vehicle to run off the right side of the road, where it struck a tree. Walker, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mineral Area Health Center.
Damage to the car was listed as moderate and it was towed from the scene.
A Robertsville, Mo., man was seriously injured Monday in St. Francois County when he was thrown from his ATV.
According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, Corey J. McDowell, 28, of Cedar Hill was westbound at 6333 Scenic Trail Drive at 2 a.m. when his 2003 Polaris Magnum struck a rock in the roadway. Passenger James P. Stiefferman, 33, was ejected from the ATV. He suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
Also on Monday, two Ironton teens were injured when their vehicle hit several trees in Iron County. The accident occurred at 2:45 p.m.
According to reports, Angel M. Kirkpatrick, 16, and passenger Ashley N. Geitz, 16, were northbound on Highway 21, about five miles south of Arcadia, when the 1997 Jeep in which they were riding crossed the center line. Kirkpatrick overcorrected, then traveled off the right side of the road and struck several trees.
Kirkpatrick, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Parkland Health Center in Farmington. Gietz, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to the same hospital.
Damage to the Jeep was listed as total.
