THE FREDERICKTOWN R-1 BOARD OF EDUCATION HOLDS REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
The Fredericktown R-1 School District Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on August 19, 2008.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.  It was led by Board President Larry Kemp.  Bills, minutes, and the agenda were all approved.

The first item of business was the approval of the 2008-09 tax levy.  Total assessed valuation from the three counties that make up the R-1 District was 88,836,540.  The state auditor's calculation set our levy at 3.1844.  Last year's final state auditor's calculation set our levy at 3.1843.  Revenue from the county property and real estate tax is an estimated 2,828,910.  The levy was approved by the Board.

Chadd Starkey, Administrative Assistant, presented the Career Ladder plan to the Board.  It was approved for another school year.

The updated substitute list and transportation contracts were approved.

The Board discussed future plans for a tax levy proposal.  There was discussion regarding the most recent community meeting held at the high school.  No decision as to if and when a tax levy proposal would be submitted to the voters.

Handbooks were also given to the board members for their review.  Approval for those will be in September.

Tara Gann gave a presentation from the CARE organization.

The board closed the open session and voted to enter into closed session for personnel reasons.
