Indian cooking class slated for Sept. 9
Mineral Area College's Continuing Education program will be offering a new series of cooking classes by an award-winning local cook.
Adiba Chowdhury is well known in Fredericktown for owning and operating the Madison Inn Lodge with her husband, Abu, and for her recent political run for Mayor of Fredericktown.
A native of Bangladesh, she is also known as an incredible cook, since both the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times have featured Adiba's culinary achievements. Her Easy Beef Curry recipe won a Chicago area beef cook-off; she was named Cook of the Week by the Daily Herald of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; and her baklava won first place at the 2006 Madison County Fair.
Now Adiba will be sharing her passion for cooking with others by teaching for MAC's Continuing Education program. Her first class, A Taste of India, starts Tuesday, Sept. 9, and will include her award-winning Easy Beef Curry recipe among other classic Indian dishes.
A second class, A Taste of South East Asia, will start on Tuesday, Nov. 25, and will feature vegetarian and seafood dishes from Bangladesh and southern Indian.
Both four-week classes will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, and cost $39 each.
For more information or to register for these or other Continuing Education classes, contact Michel Epps, Director of Continuing Education, at (573) 518-2342 or mepps@mineralarea.edu.
