Central wins in three, Bismarck takes conference lead

SULLIVAN — The Central Lady Rebels playing Sullivan in the second of the Lady Eagles doubleheader, came up the winner against the host team. The rotating doubleheader, with Sullivan playing both North County and Central, is an annual event for the three teams. The Lady Rebels won their match in three games, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19.
“This is the best we have played so far,” said Central coach Tracie Casey of her team’s hard-fought win.
Leaders for the Lady Rebels were Tori Boyer with 11 digs, Jaycee Haus with 11 kills and two blocks, and Megan Simpson with 16 assists and two blocks.
Central, 6-5-1, will play next in the Clearwater Tournament on Saturday.
Bismarck 2, Kingston 0
BISMARCK — The Mineral Area Activities Association Small-School volleyball conference plays a home and away format, and already the six teams have played two games with the Bismarck Lady Indians stepping up to the top of the standings at 2-0 after their 25-10, 25-15 win over the Kingston Lady Cougars Thursday night. The other two teams that were 1-0 both lost on Thursday.
Brooke Taylor led the Lady Indians in kills and digs with 12 and 10 respectively. Taylor also made two blocks and served four points in the game. Tori Henson led in points served with eight, and Balee Lorenz led in assists with 19. Harley Cadwell and Holly Blunt had two kills apiece.
Miranda Politte served nine points for the Lady Cougars and made five sets for kills. Emilee Dicus made two kills and two blocks, and Kelsey Nelson and Brandy Page came up with one dig each.
Bismarck (9-2-1) will play in the Perryville Tournament this Saturday. Kingston (2-3) will host West County on Tuesday for their next match.
Arcadia Valley 2, Valley 0
CALEDONIA — The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers picked up their first conference win with a 25-6, 25-20 win over the neighboring Valley Lady Vikings.
“We had a whole new mix of kids on the floor tonight,” said Valley coach Caley Yount on her team’s having to adjust from a missing player.
Danielle Johnson led the Lady Vikings in digs with seven and she also had two kills. Loren Rodgers and Jessica Crocker made four digs and three kills each. Kaitlin Holbert had four assists and Katie Halbert had three. Both Randi Goggin and Megan Midgett made three digs.
Valley will host Ellington at home on Monday.
Meadow Heights 2, Fredericktown 1
PATTON — “It was really a slow-paced game tonight,” said Fredericktown coach Jamie Warden of the tempo in their Thursday match against Meadow Heights. “They didn’t really hit the ball at us, but mostly tipped it instead. We were able to come up with it most of the time, but we just couldn’t seem to work well with the pace of the game.”
Fredericktown lost the match in three 15-25, 25-17, 20-25.
Lauren Henderson was on fire for the Lady Cats with 12 kills and three solo blocks and nine of her 12 service points going for aces. Kylie Oertel made four kills and had two blocks. Rikki Firebaugh had three kills.
Chelsea Mills served nine points with three aces and had four kills and 11 digs. Allison McDowell made 17 assists and Melia Fall made 12.
Fredericktown, 8-4, will play in the Perryville Tournament on Saturday.
Owensville 2, Potosi 0
OWENSVILLE — The Potosi Lady Trojans fell just below the .500 mark on Thursday with a 25-16, 25-22 loss to Owensville.
Ashley Thompson served five points for the Lady Trojans with three going for aces. Thompson also made four blocks. Lauren Aubuchon and Casey Nivens both had four kills with Jordan Harbison making 19 assists. Melinda Bust made five defensive digs in the match.
Potosi (6-7) will host Sullivan on Monday for its next match.
