Lady Cats and Trojans capture conference wins

BONNE TERRE — The Fredericktown Lady Cats tennis team had to shuffle their line-up to play the North County Lady Raiders on Thursday. With their No. 1 player absent, the rest of the team moved up a slot and J.V. player Carolyn Neubrand stepped in to round out the team.
Samantha Pinkley joined Alison Clover to play No. 1 doubles against Chelsea Senter and Shelby Mund, and the Lady Cats prevailed by a score of 8-2. Fredericktown’s Kacelyn Alexander and Neubrand also won their match over Brittany Ford and Alex Perry in No. 3 doubles.
North County’s Alyssa Yates and Alicia Price pulled out a 9-8 win in No. 2 doubles by winning the tiebreak 7-5 over Emily Godsey and Shelby Seabaugh.
The two teams split the singles matches with Fredericktown winning No. 1, 3 and 4 singles. Pinkley defeated Senter 8-1, Godsey won out over Yates 8-5, and Seabaugh beat Price 8-1.
North County’s wins came by Mund beating Clover 8-1, Ford bested Alexander 8-2, and Perry shut out Neubrand 8-0.
North County will seek their first win on Thursday at Potosi. Fredericktown, 3-4 and 3-3 in conference, will play at Arcadia Valley on Tuesday.
Potosi 7, Arcadia Valley 2
POTOSI — The Potosi Lady Trojans were challenged by the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers in every doubles match to start their meet on Thursday, but they survived the challenge to sweep the three doubles and go on to a 7-2 conference win.
Melissa McGuire and Kelsey Fitzwater were 8-5 winners over Jayne Rey and Anna Reynolds in No. 1 doubles, and Allison Bonney and Kayla Doss defeated Alyssa Waddell and Kassie Leahy by the same score.
Olivia Kwan and Chala Doss battled to win a 7-5 tiebreak to edge out Rachel Reynolds and Katie Buck 9-8.
McGuire got By Rey in singles 8-6, Fitzwater doubled up Waddell 8-4, Kayla Doss won 8-2 over Yancy and Chala Doss beat Rachel Reynolds 8-3.
Anna Reynolds edged out Bonney 8-6 for Arcadia Valley, and Leahy won 8-2 over Kwan in No. 4 singles.
Potosi, 3-1 overall and MAAA, will play at Farmington on Tuesday, and Arcadia Valley, 3-3 in both, will host Fredericktown the same day.
