CAPE GIRARDAU — The Farmington Knights cross country team had four runners finish in the Top 20 and it resulted in the Knights taking second place in the Cape Central Invitational.
Colton Wooldridge was the Knights’ premier runner in the race with a time of 17:31 for fifth place. Ryan Hathaway came in 13th at 18:45, Ben Schwalenberg was 15th at 18:47, and Alex Cofer placed 17th with a time of 18:59.
With a 26th-place finish at 19:24, Corey Pinkley made the Knights team total 76, just four points ahead of the host team. Alex Rhodes placed 28th with a time of 19:31, but the team score is made up the places of only the first five finishers for a team.
The Knightettes had three runners complete the course with Justin Allison placing 13th at 23:23, Taylin Persons finishing 27th at 24:30, and Cassidy Whitener coming in 35th at 25:17.
Farmington’s next meet will be on October 4 at Carbondale, Illinois.
Potosi splits team
The Potosi Trojans split their team up with their two top runners Jacob Swearingen and Nick Niggemann attending the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, and the rest of the team participating in a meet at Festus.
Swearingen for the second year in a row won the Missouri Stampede. He finished with a time of 15:10, and it marks his third first-place finish in a row this season. Niggemann was only 15 seconds behind to finish third. There were over 400 runners in the race.
Sarah White won first place at the Festus Meet with a time of 19:20. Nikole Johnson came in seventh at 21:26. They were the only two Lady Trojans in the meet.
Potosi continues to reload each year, and that was evidenced in a fourth place finish for freshman Justin Doss. Jacob Mathis placed ninth with a time of 17:51.
Potosi will be running again on Saturday at the Hancock Invitational to be run at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis.
