Farmington boys win cross country meet

OAK RIDGE, Mo. — With six individual runners earning medalist distinction among the top 20 finishers, the Farmington boys cross country team raced past 12 other schools on Thursday to win the Oak Ridge Invitational.
Sophomore Colton Wooldridge led the Knights over the finish line with his second-best overall time of 16:33. Farmington recorded a team total of 43 points, leaving plenty of distance between itself and second place Saxony Lutheran with 90.
Ryan Hathaway and Alex Rhodes gave Farmington three of the top eight performances, and freshman Derrick Scales placed 14th in his first varsity race. Alex Leutzinger of North County medaled in fifth.
North County finished runner-up behind Dexter for the second straight year on the girls side, earning four medals overall. Freshmen Alissah Dickey (21:21) and Taylor Weible (21:52) placed fifth and 12th, respectively for the Lady Raiders.
Farmington was third in the team standings with five athletes ranging from 11th position to 18th. Freshman Jacqueline paced the Knightettes with a mark of 21:47. Four teammates were separated by 22 seconds with senior Angie Turner leading that pack in 13th place.

GIRLS TENNIS
Farmington 9, Charleston 0
CHARLESTON — The Farmington girls tennis team earned one of its most prominent wins of the season in convincing fashion on Thursday, shutting out district foe Charleston 9-0.
Farmington (11-1) began the contest by sweeping the doubles action. Megan Politte and Jenny May posted an 8-2 triumph, while Courtney Jensen and Alicia Murray rallied from behind for an 8-6 result. The tandem of Heather Lewis and Mackenzie Coleman prevailed 8-3.
Jensen doubled up her opponent 8-4 in the top-ranked singles match, and Murray scored a decisive 8-1 win. Lewis and Kaitlin Crocker emerged with 8-6 victories, and Politte pulled away 8-3. Coleman secured the lone 8-0 shutout of the day.
SOCCER
North County 8, Bayless J.V. 0
HILLSBORO — North County netted five goals in the first half on Thursday, and cruised to an 8-0 shutout over the Bayless junior varsity during action at the Hillsboro Tournament.
Phillip Wrabetz recorded a hat trick and Matt Robinson tallies two goals plus an assist to lead the Raiders (5-2). Jake Cavins added a goal with two helpers, and Zack Harris also found the back of the net.
Goalkeeper Cody Huff converted a penalty kick for a rare goal and made six saves overall. Pedro Matta and Aaron Parker each picked up one assist. North County will play an undetermined opponent at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
FALL BASEBALL
West County 9, Arcadia Valley 0
West County 10, Arcadia Valley 0
FRANKCLAY — The West County Bulldogs continued their conquest of Fall season foes with a doubleheader win over the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers, 9-0, 10-0.
Zach Turner threw five innings gave up five hits and struck out five batters in picking up the win in the first game. Justin Lashley struck out six and gave up only two hits in game two in winning the second game.
Kyle Nettles, Trevor Kean and Tyler Stacy were all 3-3 at the dish in the first game with Nettles having a double and driving in three runs. Cody Watson and Brandon Turner hit one double each, and Coty Shannon and Josh Gidden each had a single.
In the second game, Dylan Whitehead, Dustin Goforth, Tyler Elders, Tyler Niven, Jesse Waters, Robert King, and Tyler Dane all had one single each. Bryant Wolfin hit a double and Dane drove in three runs.
