CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Police are investigating the alleged shoving of an 11-year-old football player by a coach on the opposing team after a game in suburban St. Louis.
KSDK-TV in St. Louis reports the incident Saturday was caught on videotape after a club football game in the Park-Rock Football Association. The boy, Wesley Deavenport, was not injured but his father took the matter to Chesterfield police.
Joe Deavenport said that after a contentious game, one of the other team’s coaches shoved his son by the face-mask, knocking him out of the reception line.
KSDK said the coach believes he was justified by some of the events that took place during the game.
Police are expected to turn their findings over to prosecutors, probably Monday.
Club officials say they’ll meet Monday to discuss what happened.
