Everyone has one teacher that makes a difference in a students life. Bill "Moose Martin" was the teacher that did it for me.

More than that, he showed a lot of us it was ok to be nerds, that it was important to be ourselves. He mentored a lot of us at the FHS Chess Club that he sponsored all those years ago to do just that. Just the kind of thing kids in those tough years need help with - building self esteem.
My thoughts are with his family. Great guys like that are missed and hard to replace, especially when its your Dad.

As the oldest child of Bill Martin I wanted to thank the community for their very generous outpouring of love, support, and sympathy. Words cannot express the comfort that was provided to us by knowing that so many cared. Whether you visited the hospital, the funeral home, or attended the mass, brought or served food, played the organ, served as pallbearer, sent a card, called, said a prayer, or in some other fashion touched our lives during this time, thank you. From Dad's friends, students, and bother Elks, to the members of St. Joseph church, and our own friends and coworkers-the support was not only comforting, but allowed us to begin healing from the pain and loss. From Dad's children: Karen, Stephen, Debbie, and myself and also from his grandkids: Corey, Jessica, Bradley, Allison, Connor, Emily, Tyler, Amber, and Parker; THANK YOU for your kindness, and made a difference, did not go unnoticed, and will be remembered.

To Bill's Family,
My thought are with you in your time of loss. Mr. Martin, (Bill/Moose) was not only one of my high school science teachers, he was a friend. Bill and I use to hunt turkeys together, I was in boy scouts with him. Again my regards to his family you have lost a great person. "Make em gobble Moose"
