New Mexico routs SE Missouri

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Tony Danridge scored 16 points to lead New Mexico to a 102-59 rout over Southeast Missouri State on Friday.

Danridge missed last season after breaking his left leg, but the time off didn’t show. He had several highlight reel dunks against the overmatched Redbirds.

Six Lobos reached double-digits in what marked New Mexico’s highest scoring game since they scored 106 against Colorado in 2006.

Jaycen Herring led the Redbirds (0-1) with 21 points.

The Lobos (1-0) opened the second half with a 22-3 run, quickly extending their 46-31 half-time lead to 68-34. Phillip McDonald scored eight of the points and Danridge had six.

The Redbirds had an early lead, going up 16-11 seven minutes into the game. But the lead quickly evaporated and the Lobos built an 26-20 advantage within four minutes.
