Mineral Area College to trade hoops for canned food

Mineral Area College will host its Bob Sechrest Classic starting at 5 p.m. tonight and running through Saturday evening. There will be a slate of eight games in two days at the Sechrest Fieldhouse this weekend wih the Cardinals and Lady Cardinals playing on both days (see schedule times below).

The basketball teams, in partnership with the MAC Omega Leo Club, are sponsoring a canned food drive. Fans are asked to bring one (or more) canned good items each day, per person, in return for FREE admission to the basketball games. Non-canned admission is $5 per adult, $2 for students 6-18, and free for under six. The food drive will continue throughout November.

The Men's portion of the tournament includes Friday games at 5 p.m. with Three Rivers vs. Kennedy-King (IL) and a 7 p.m. tip of Mineral Area vs. Simmons (KY).  Saturday men's action includes a 1 p.m. Three Rivers vs. Simmons game and a 7 p.m. Mineral Area vs. Kennedy-King feature.

The Women's Tournament features the Friday schedule of Rend Lake (IL) vs. Kirkwood (IA) at 1 p.m. and Mineral Area vs. Northwest Mississippi at 3 p.m.  Saturday action includes a 3 p.m. contest between Rend Lake and Northwest Mississippi and a 5 p.m. Mineral Area vs. Kirkwood game.
