Most local candidates for election have not filed their expense reports. Some reported paying from $1 to $2.50 for election day workers, and as much as $16.40 for cigars.
Several Knights of Columbus members traveled to Perryville to assist in the organization of a lodge of the Knights there.
There will be a minstrel show at the Bachelor’s Club.
November 27, 1958
The county set a record with 228 deer killed this season.
Rusty Turnbeau saw a black bear near Reed’s Bend while deer hunting.
Sandra Pogue was crowned homecoming queen.
The Cats defeated Jackson 28-13, and finished the season with a 7-2 record.
November 24, 1983
Roger Stricker was honored for his thirteen years of doing Blackcat football and basketball games on the radio.
The PTA held an open house at the elementary school.
Several downtown businesses are receiving facelifts.
All district honors went to Ray Stricker, Steve Lane, Tim Neel, Jamie Griffon, Larry Utenage, Chuck Penuel, Jay Moser, Devin Amelunke, Gerry Stephens, and Brad Huffman.
November 25, 1998
FFA members who attended the National Convention in Kansas City were Jeremy Rehkop, Brandi Lawrence, Tim Griffon, Jeanie Rehkop, Ben Whitener, Kyle Hibbitts, Ross Allen and Eli Whitener.
The Old Reagan Hotel in Marquand opened for tours.
Molly Ward and Jacob Tucker were crowned queen and king at the Marquand-Zion School Carnival.
