Son bites off mother's nose
Prosecutor waits for psychological evaluation before filing charges
BISMARCK — A woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after police say her son bit off part of her nose Monday night.
Sgt. Randy Tate of the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department said the incident occurred at a home on Route N near Bismarck.
Sheriff Dan Bullock believes the woman walked in on the man trying to commit suicide. According to police, the man bit the end of her nose off and part of her upper lip. When police arrived, she was covered in blood and it is unknown to them what other injuries she had. She was taken to a hospital in St. Louis for her injuries.
Police forced their way into a room where the man was lying on the floor. The man, who was also covered in blood, resisted being handcuffed and told police he didn’t remember what happened.
The man was taken to a local hospital for injuries to his head and arm which are believed at this time to be self-inflicted.
Reports have been turned over to the prosecuting attorney's office where charges are ready to be filed. The prosecutor is waiting for the man to undergo a psychological evaluation before any charges are formally filed.
