POTOSI — The Sullivan Eagles allowed just four made field goals in the first half, and often scored inside with transition and dribble penetration on Saturday night to defeat North County, 63-44 in the Potosi Tournament final.

Tyler Garner scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Sullivan (3-0), which cruised to the title with previous pool-play wins over St. James and Potosi.

Austin Berti and Daniel Schatz each netted 11 points, and Cody Davis grabbed 11 boards in the victory. Sullivan never trailed after opening the game with a 10-0 scoring run that was sparked by consecutive three-pointers from Garner and Justin Berti.

North County (2-1) missed its first seven shots from the field and trailed 31-12 at intermission after facing a 24-point deficit during one juncture in the second quarter.

Senior Jordan Thompson revived the Raiders’ offense during the second half with several aggressive driving layups, and led all players with 20 points. His second three-pointer of the night made it 52-34.

Stephon Martinez also knocked down a pair of triples for the Raiders. The teams committed just 20 combined turnovers.

Kennett topped St. James 56-47 in the third-place game on Saturday.

Steelville 73, Valley 49

CALEDONIA
— Jacob Becker scored 27 points to lead all players, and Steelville captured third place in the Valley Tournament on Saturday night with a 73-49 triumph over the host squad.

Steelville (2-1) successfully pulled away after holding a modest 36-29 lead at halftime, winning the fourth quarter by a 20-9 margin.

Valley (1-2) was led in scoring by Jacob Kearns with 17 points. Logan Midgett added 11 points including a pair of threes, and Shane Tinsley added eight in defeat.

Oakville 62, Farmington 59

FARMINGTON
— It has been nine years since a Farmington team has won the Farmington Tournament, and now it will be 10 as Oakville completed a shut-out of the host teams with a 62-59 win over the Knights in Saturday’s title game. The Knightettes lost to Dexter in the girls final.

Lance Miller led all scorers with 24 points for the Knights, and Jared Clippard was next with a dozen more,  but a trio of Oakville players scored 47 of their points with Keith Pickens and Josh Noblitt scoring 16 each and Javier Duren scoring 15.

The Knights gave a strong challenge up until the very end of the game, but each time they drew really close, Oakville would find a way to stay just out of reach until time finally ran out.
