BONNE TERRE — The North County Raiders pulled off a last second, actually a last 1.8 seconds win over the Arcadia Valley Tigers on Tuesday with Robbie Holland grabbing an offensive rebound and making the putback for a 50-48 win.

The Raiders held a three-point edge at the half, but trailed by one after three quarters in a very evenly matched contest with the Tigers.

Holland’s last basket also gave him the top scoring total for the Raiders in the game with 13 points. Jordan Thompson scored 11, Tanner Beers had seven, Stephon Martinez 6, Derek Emily 5, and Seth Caldwell and Brian Jaco each had four points.

Blake Walker and Eric Lindsey provided the fire works for the Tigers with 17 and 15 points respectively to lead all scorers.

STE. GENEVIEVE
— The Ste. Genevieve Dragons made it payback time on Tuesday with a 49-36 win over the Crystal City Hornets. Having lost to the Hornets on Friday in the Crystal City Tournament championship game, the Dragons made the best of their home-court advantage to make the statement, “not in our house”.

The Dragons fell behind 14-11 after the first quarter of play, but they cut the Hornets point production in half in both the second and third quarters, six and seven.

“Our defense really stepped up in those quarters,” said Ste. Genevieve coach Robbie Coleman. It gave us the edge we needed going into the last quarter.”

Kory Faulkner led the way in scoring with 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds, four steals and five blocks on defense. Brock Meyer scored 14 points and made four steals, and Keith Pfaff had six points and also four steals. Adam Roth finished with five points, and Josh Meyer and Jacob Kent made one free throw each.

CALEDONIA
— The Valley Vikings had their work cut out for them when they hosted the South Iron Panthers, last year’s state finalists,  on Tuesday. The Vikings lost 69-37 which Valley coach Adam Portell considered not that bad.

“We lost to them by a lot more last year,” said Portell. “I feel that this was much better.”

Logan Midgett scored 14 points to lead the Vikings in scoring. Matt Pierce had eight, Jimmy Nash had five, Tyler Parks four, and Michael Neier and Shane Tinsley each had two. Will Sutton led the Panthers with 21 points.

Valley (1-3) will host Potosi in a doubleheader with the girls’ teams on Friday to play for the coveted ‘County Hog’ Trophy.
