Filings for April election open

Several file for municipal positions, school board seats

Tuesday marked the first day to file for school board and city council positions.

Individuals have until Jan. 20 to file for seats available in the April 7 election.

Two seats are open on the North County School Board. The seats are currently held by Jack Poston and Charlie Farr. On Tuesday, Poston filed. Farr has said he does not plan to file.

The Bismarck School Board has two seats up for election in April. The three-year terms of Stanley Jackson and Marshall Latham are both set to expire. Jackson and Latham both have filed for re-election. As of Tuesday morning no challenger had filed.

The Central School District has two seats up for election in April. The three-year terms of Jack Marler and Dooley Politte will expire. As of Tuesday morning Ronnie Calvird was the lone filer for one of the seats.

The Farmington School Board had three file. The two incumbents Dennis Robinson and Angela Hahn filed.  David Buerck with Farmington Sports and Rehab also filed to run in April.

Two, three-year terms will be on the ballet for West County School Board. Incumbent John French has filed for re-election. Jon Barlow also filed to be on the board. The other open seat currently is held by Rick Lawson.

Desloge has three aldermen seats and the mayor’s position up for election. Ward I Alderman Jim “Yogi” Jones’ term is set to expire as is that of Ward II Alderman Chris Gremminger. Ward III Alderman Jerry “Hoghead” Hulsey’s seat is also up for election. Mayor David Kater’s term is also set to expire. All of the terms are for two years. City Administrator Greg Camp said no one had filed as of 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

The City of Leadington might have a new mayor in April. The term of Larry Kennon is set to expire and he had not filed for re-election as of Tuesday morning. In addition to Kennon’s position, the Ward I Alderman seat of Jim Hurt is set to open up as is the Ward II Alderman seat of Katrina Wakefield. The terms are for two years. No one had filed for any of the seats as of Tuesday morning.

In Bonne Terre, two one-year terms under the new form of government will expire in April. The seats currently belong to Cindy Driemeier, Ward 3 and Lee Roy Calvert, Ward 1. Calvert filed Tuesday.

The City of Bismarck has two alderman seats up for election in April. The seats of Ward I Alderman LaDonna Haefner and Ward II Alderman Carol Baker are both up for election. As of Tuesday morning Haefner had filed for re-election.

Iron Mountain Lake has several positions open in the April election. Mayor Jodi Niccum’s term is set to expire. He was appointed mayor in July after Michael M. Juenger resigned. Whoever wins the mayoral election will serve out a one-year term.

Ward II Alderman Phil Fox’s term is also set to expire. He has filed for re-election for another two-year term. An additional one-year term is also available for Ward II. Linda Miller was the lone candidate for the seat as of Tuesday morning.

Ward I Alderman Donnie May’s term is also set to expire. May filed for re-election for another two-year term.

There are two vacant seats for Ward III that need to be filled. One is for a one-year term while the other is for a two-year term. No one had filed for the seats as of Tuesday morning.

Incumbent Ward I Allen Dalton has filed for re-election to the Leadwood Board of Aldermen in the April election. No one has filed for the mayor’s position currently held by Jeff Mahurin, the Ward II seat currently held by Donnie Eaton or the one-year Ward seat currently filled by Ken Crick. Full term for each position is two years

In Farmington, the ballot will include four, two-year terms on the City Council, a two-year term as city prosecutor, and a four-year term as mayor.

On Tuesday, Incumbent Dennis Smith had filed for re-election in Ward III. No one had filed for the Ward I seat held by Jeff Firehammer, the Ward II seat held by Vonne Phillips or the Ward IV seat held by Brad Covell.

Incumbent Jeannie Roberts filed for the mayoral position, as did Stuart “Mit” Landrum Jr. and Keith Lay. No one had applied for the city prosecutor seat.

The mayor’s seat and one seat in each of four City Council wards will be on the ballot for Park Hills. On Tuesday, John A. Hagerty and Ward II Councilman David Easter filed for the mayor’s seat, currently held by John Clark.

No one has filed for the Ward I Council seat currently held by Jeff Cunningham, the Ward II seat currently held by Linda Dickerson, or for the Ward IV seat currently held by Larry Kelly.

In Ward III, Incumbent Tom Reed has filed for re-election.

Incumbent Dennis Johnson has filed for the three-year term as commissioner of the St. Francois County Road District 2.

The St. Francois County Health Board has two four-year terms open. Incumbents Ron Bockenkamp and John “Jack” Poston have both filed. 

The St. Francois County Ambulance District has two three-year terms as director open in District 2 and 5.

Incumbent J.D. Hodge has filed for District 2.

District 5 had no filing as of 1:30 p.m.

For Iron Mountain lake, u sure it is not Linda Dicus instead of Linda Miller? just wondering
