• The Mineral Area College Board of Trustees accepted a bid for construction of a library on the new campus.

• Bonne Terre Hospital had plans for a new physical therapy department.

30 Years Ago

The Farmington Evening Press  December 22 through 29, 1978

• A Local Farmington man, Robert Wulfers, arrived back in town after escaping from a hijacked plane in Marion, Ill.

• The Memorial United Methodist Church set up a teen center to  begin January 2nd.

• Kenneth Pratte was named as the Assistant Prosecutor, he replaced Judge James Pennoyer.

• Artie Armon celebrated her 107th birthday.

20 Years Ago

The Press Advirtiser, December 20 through 23, 1988

• A fire at the Wickman Building that caused minor damage and was ruled as accidental.

• Bob and Julie Dobski left for Bloomington, Ill. after being in Farmington for more than six years. They opened the first McDonalds restaurant in the area in 1982.
