CALEDONIA — Anthony Quinton was in control on the mound in a three-hit shutout on Saturday, and the Park Hills Astros downed the Caledonia Falcons 8-0 in the first game of a MABA 13-year-old league double-header.
Brendon Jones lined a triple and single in the victory, while Lane Huff and Quinton each added a double among two hits.
The Astros had a more difficult road in game two, but rallied with three runs in the seventh inning for a 13-12 win and the sweep. Winning pitcher Austin Caldwell and Jones each contributed a double and single to the victory.
Pierce Daniels and Colin Bess each had two singles, and Brayden Manion doubled for the Astros.
The Falcons collected nine hits as a squad, including three singles apiece from Robert Akers and Nick Province.
JUNIOR BABE RUTH
Hounds 7, Tigers 3
FARMINGTON — Sam Thompson collected two RBI with a triple and two singles on Friday night, and the Farmington Hounds downed the Bismarck Tigers 7-3 for their ninth victory.
Jimmy Moore and Evan Dunivan each singled twice, while Rider Garrett and Blake Archer added RBI hits for the Hounds (9-2). Dunivan pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win and Garrett closed out the final two frames.
Eight different Tigers picked up one hit. Logan Blunt had a two-run single in the fifth inning and Jake Kirkpatrick added a triple.
Cubs 14, Bruins 2
BONNE TERRE — Derek Mitchell had two hits at the plate and struck out seven batters in five innings on Friday, as the Desloge Cubs posted a 14-2 Junior Babe Ruth win over the Farmington Bruins.
Justin Ruby and Kaleb Warden each singled twice and Joe Swofford tripled in the victory. Drew Rhodes collected a two-run single for the Cubs (3-6).
Levi Meyer doubled for the Bruins.
CAL RIPKEN LEAGUE
Raiders 11, Blues 0
BONNE TERRE — T.J. Eaton pitched a one-hitter with six strikeouts on Sunday, and the Bonne Terre Raiders continued their excellent Cal Ripken League season with an 11-0 shutout over the Bonne Terre Blues.
Hunter Strange blasted a grand slam and Anthony Brakefield collected a triple for the Raiders (13-2). Austin Harper, Austin Tounsand, Trae Morris and Caleb Bannister each added singles.
Tommy Struckman doubled and Dan Davis singled for the Blues. Jayden Weible and Frank Hulsey combined for four strikeouts.
BANTAM TOURNAMENT
Bulldogs 6, Bandits 5
PARK HILLS — Cole Ziegler smacked a walk-off home run in the fifth inning, and the Leadwood Bulldogs outlasted the Fredericktown Bandits 6-5 in Bantam League tournament action on Friday.
Seth Weiss also homered and Cameron Stevens singled for the Bulldogs. Ziegler earned the relief win while combining with starter Ty Simily for 12 strikeouts.
Clark Penuel had a triple among two hits and Logan Watson singled twice for the Bandits. Noah Korokis and Watson teamed for nine strikeouts, and Isaak Starkey and Levi Lunsford added singles.
Titans 15, Clippers 0
DOE RUN — The Leadwood Titans claimed third place in the Bantam League Tournament Gold Bracket on Friday night with a 15-0 shutout over the Arcadia Valley Clippers.
Jared Jones homered twice while finishing 3-for-3, and Matt Momot added three hits with a home run and double for the Titans. Tate Roberts and Cory Davis had two singles each, and Noah Vinson was the winning pitcher.
Jacob Trowbridge went 2-for-2 to pace the Clippers. Tatum Jones and Peyton Whited had singles.
Bryce Pruett, Garret Bowen and Justyn Cheatham added hits in the victory.
Raiders 18, Yellowjackets 3
POTOSI — The Desloge Raiders captured the consolation prize in the Gold Bracket with an 18-3 runover of the Potosi Yellowjackets on Friday.
The Raiders amassed 14 hits, while their pitchers Chase Robinson and Will Claywell stymied the Yellowjacket hitters to only three. Robinson threw the first three innings for the win and six-year-old Claywell mopped up the last frame.
Ryan Coleman and Jamie Fitzwater were both 1-1 for the Yellowjackets with Fitzwater’s hitting a double.
Trae Robinson was 3-3 for the Raiders to drive in five runs. Briley Smith was 2-2, Kolten Poorman was 2-3, and Eli Claywell was 3-4. Kenny Mahurin, Michael Falls and Karter Kekec had one hit apiece. Kekec drove in three of the Raiders runs.
