VAN BUREN, Mo. (AP) — The congresswoman who represents southeast Missouri says no changes should be made in management of the Ozark National Scene Riverways.
The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic reports that Republican Rep. Jo Ann Emerson spoke Wednesday night in Van Buren to a small group of people invited to share their thoughts on proposed management alternatives.
Those alternatives under consideration by the National Park Service include possible restrictions on use of the Jacks Fork and Current rivers.
Residents of the region have been most vocal in opposing possible limits to boat use and horse power. Some say those restrictions could hurt tourism.
