There's still time to enjoy summer in St. Louis. Labor Day weekend in the Gateway City means lots of festivals, activities and events, to wrap up summertime with three full days of fun.

This year, the weekend is bookended with two cycling races — the Gateway Cup and the Tour of Missouri.

From Sept. 4 to 7, the Gateway Cup Bicycle Race's pro-am cyclists compete for cash and prizes, while the rest of the pack pedals for medals in four races throughout the area.

Race number one circles historic Lafayette Square, with additional competitions taking place in downtown St. Louis, on The Hill, and through University City's Loop neighborhood. It's free for spectators. Call 314-644-6445 or race over to http://www.stlbiking.com/ for all the fast facts.

Kick off football season with the Fighting Illini and the Mizzou Tigers on Sept. 5, at the Edward Jones Dome. It's time to tangle again for the universities of Illinois and Missouri, as the annual State Farm Arch Rivalry Football Game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. The daylong festivities start early and end late, so make plans to be a part the tailgating and pep rallies scheduled before and after the game. For ticket information, call 314-992-0637, or visit http://www.stlsports.org/.

The Missouri Botanical Garden will host the 33rd Annual Japanese Festival, Sept. 5-7. The three-day celebration of all things Japanese will feature taiko drumming, traditional tea ceremonies, martial arts, candlelight walks in the Japanese Garden and more.  For hours, pricing and more information call 314-577-5100, or log on to http://www.mobot.org/.

Enjoy authentic Greek cuisine and culture within the friendly confines of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Saturday through Monday, Sept. 5-7. The wildly popular St. Nicholas Greek Festival includes Greek food like Kota Riganta, Moussaka, Spanakopites, Pastitsio and more. And don't leave without trying the baklava! There's also a bazaar, Greek folk dancing and live music by Christo Sarantakis, Pete Dellas and Bouzouki Pete's Orchestra. For more information and event hours call 314-361-6924, or click http://www.stnicholas.missouri.goarch.org/GreekFest/default.htm.

Speaking of music, experience the St. Louis blues at the Big Muddy Blues Festival on Laclede's Landing, Sept. 5-6. Music fans can enjoy free continuous live blues on three stages from 3-11 p.m. For a complete schedule, visit http://www.lacledeslanding.com/.

On Sept. 6, anyone can get into the cycling act - well, anyone with a bike. The Giro della Montagna/Tour of Missouri (TOM) recreational ride takes a tour of historic St. Louis, including the majority of the Stage 1 TOM route.

Supported by Trailnet, the ride begins and ends in The Hill neighborhood - and just in time to catch the afternoon's Cup races. On Monday, Gateway Cup racers will get a bike's-eye view of the new City garden along the Gateway Mall. The finale will take place on a section of the TOM's Stage 1 course, as Cup riders get a once in a lifetime opportunity to sprint under the same banner as the world's top riders. But wait - there's more.

After the Cup champions are crowned, the Tour of Missouri Women's Series gets underway, featuring some of the top female riders in North American cycling: http://www.stlbiking.com/

And what's Labor Day without a parade? St. Louis' annual Labor Day Parade steps off at 9 a.m. on Monday and rolls down Market Street in downtown. For details, call 314-647-6336, or visit http://www.stlclc.org/.

And finally, the third Tour of Missouri Pro Cycling Race reverses course and starts in St. Louis this year. Patterned after the illustrious Tour de France, the TOM features point-to-point racing with more than 120 world-class cyclists from elite professional teams.

The globe's greatest racers travel through the Show Me State, beginning Sept. 7 at 2:30 p.m. The week-long event treks through many of the state's hot spots, including Ste. Genevieve, Farmington, Cape Girardeau, Jefferson City, and St. Joseph before wrapping up in Kansas City on Sept. 13. For the complete route, head over to http://www.tourofmissouri.com/.
