All-Conference softball teams show league's parity

PARK HILLS — With the last four teams being eliminated in District play on Monday, the 2009 softball season ended for the MAAA Conference, and upon its finish, the All-Conference selections were released.

The six coaches of the conference voted for the All-Conference players prior to the Conference Tournament on September 28-29. Coaches were not allowed to vote for players on their own team.

Fifteen players were selected to the First Team with nine of the 15 being named on all five ballots. Seven players were named to the Second Team with all six conference teams having at least two players selected overall. First-place Farmington and second-place Central had the most players selected overall with five each.

All these girls should be really proud of themselves. This just proves that hard work does pay off and people do take notice, even when your team does not always play up to par. Thanks for a wonderful season. It was exciting to watch.
