The Fredericktown Lady Cats and the Valle Lady Warriors played volleyball far away from each other in the opening round of their respective district tournaments. Valle played against the host team at Valley Caledonia in Class 1 while Fredericktown made the long trek to Dexter for their game in Class 3 play. Both teams came back victorious.
Valle 2, Valley 0
CALEDONIA — Valle disposed of the Lady Vikings in straight games with a score of 25-8, 25-20. Hannah Kuenzel had a monstrous match, serving nine points with five going as aces. Kuenzel also had six kills and six digs. Natalie Grass was tops on digs with 10.
Kaitlin Holbert made good on eight assists and senior Jessica Crocker nailed down six of them. Loren Rodgers, Katie Halbert, and Crocker all made six digs.
Valley ends their season at 5-19, but will still be the hostess of the tournament with Bismarck and Valle still in it. Valle (16-11) will face No. 2 Lesterville this evening at 5:30 p.m.
Fredericktown 2, Doniphan
DEXTER — The Fredericktown Lady Cats spent most of their time at the service line in their 25-7, 25-5 win over the Doniphan Donettes
Courtney Tinnin served nine points with three aces. Rikki Firebaugh had eight point and four aces, and Lauren Henderson served nine points and had six aces. Chelsea Mills led the team in kills with five.
Fredericktown (16-11-3) will play Dexter this evening in the semi-finals.
